Sometimes you never know with Craigslist

I got another HOT magnum canister filter a couple of days ago and I was so excited because of the price ($35) and he advertised it for up to 80 gallons so I thought it would replace the 50 gallon one I'm currently using.

When I went to go and pick it up it was horribly dirty! Covered in green dried out algae? and the inside still had green water and here's the kicker, he had the carbon still inside a little baggie stuffed into the chamber so I had to pull it out but it didn't want to come out nicely and then I had to start ripping it out - nasty ...

Still after I got it cleaned up it came out pretty nice and then I noticed that it was exactly the same size as my current magnum so he misadvertised and then I found out it only comes in one size but that wasn't disappointing just the condition I received it in was terrible

At least I can use this as a backup filter just in case my current blows out

Any other horror craigslist stories you guys want to share?

whahooo on a back up filter!! can never have enough...but im wondering, after seeing the condition of it prior, why give them the satisfaction of having your hard earned money? I hope you find a good use for it..maybe on another tank ?

we were both running late so we were meeting outside of his apt, he drove up to me, I handed him the $ and he gave it to me in a plastic bag and said "it works" and drove off

When I got back to my car was when I saw how dirty it was, when I opened it up to check inside I even had green water spill on my car floor >.< thank god it works though, that was my biggest worry especially on how risky the exchange had been

That cragislist has spewed wonderful and terrible things. Kinda scary, isn't it? I know of people who have lived scary scary things with people from craigslist. Steeling, fraud, oh man. Just be careful everyone.

Well, they should at least have checked the filter before selling it! Sometimes people just care more about money than their customers. . .
