Hey guys (found a small fella in my tank, and a GREAT petco)

So today was a pretty exciting day for me haha.

First, I found the best petco ever! Their selection isn't as great as Elmer's Aquarium, but they have tanks just as clean as them! I saw no dead fish, and not only did the aquarium water look clean, but the betta cups were crystal clear, and there were even bettas in with other community fish! All fish looked very vibrant and healthy, and even the bettas were not as down. The ones in the larger tanks were very happy as well!

Not only that, but I was impressed with how they handled things. I wanted to get some new male guppies as 2 of mine died, and I was surprised to hear them say that they no longer carry them. The petco I went to said they stopped buying them because they were all in poor health condition, and did not feel right selling them. They also said that most were dying off before they could sell the others, and even then were not sure how long the others would survive, and could not guarantee their health). So I was just going to leave, but saw some beautiful females that I couldn't pass up and bought. I'll show pics soon.

So, I go home and was messing with the tanks. I am about to leave my room when out of the corner of my eye in the 55 (btw, I moved my guppies into the 20gallon since my oldest betta died), I see a small fish. At first I thought I saw things, but sure enough a minute later I saw him! It was tiny baby guppy! I am still amazed that he survived, and I believe he is the only survivor as I have seen no other babies anywhere in the tank. I'll keep my eyes out for one but again so far nothing. I took him and moved him into a small breeder box so I can raise him in a healthy way. Not sure what he's been eating as I didn't know he was there, but I assume he eats the fish flakes I drop for the others.

What's amazing about it, btw, is that in this tank are an Angelfish, Mollies, White Cloud Minnows, and banjo catfish. So you'd think first that the Angel or mollies would eat them up, and if not them that the catfish would catch them at night.

But yeah I don't have any pics of him though I'll get some.

but yeah just saying hey to everyone. Been a little while

Oh, how cool is that! Good luck with him.

No surprise about the guppies, just a look at the forum tells how quickly people lose them.
Best advice I've ever heard about them is to buy from a reliable breeder.

Yeah the one I kept looking at. It had this bright blue tail, and was in extremely good health. As was the reddish one I got. I'd take pics now but it's almost 1 AM and I don't want to wake them up LOL.

The baby looks ok too.. and still i'm amazed haha.

And yeah I've lost a lot of male guppies =(... it's so sad.. so I might start selling guppies to my LFS and anyone else who wants them... that way others can get a healthy pair to start breeding.

congrats on your new babies i'm glad you've found a good store!

i lost my male guppies as well it's unfortunate that they can be so unhealthy because of inbreeding and poor conditions.

I def agree, I have bought mine from a breeder and they are way healthier that way.

Finding a good chain petstore is a real jewel! Congrats!
