| Can someone type for me? Last week I stabbed myself in the thumb with a stanly knife whilst at work, leaving me with no feeling in it, so today I had to have an operation on it to determine the extent of the damage to the nerve. After a 4 hour wait at the hospital I was put to sleep and awoke a couple of hours later with an extremly sore left hand! They had to open the thumb right up to check the damage which fortunatly isn't too bad.......a cut in the digital nerve and massive swelling and bruising to the nerve as well. So now I'm off work for a while, which will mean I'll probably be on Fishlore nearly 24/7, plus a good chance to give all my tanks a proper clean and perhaps re-arrange a few of them! |

| Youch! I'm glad the surgery went well.
Be careful, make sure you wear a rubber glove on your hand when messing with your tanks. |

| DOH !!!
I know the feeling ( or lack of it ) .
A few years later I crushed it at work , breaking the bone done the middle .
After finishing work for the day ( about 6 hrs later ) I finally went to the hospital as it was turning black .
The doctor didnt beleive I couldnt feel it . He kept wiggling my thumb trying to get a response but it never happened .
Hope its not too sore .
PS- shoe laces and buttons suck with only one thumb |

| First thing in the morning I'm going to the supermarket to get a pair of rubber gloves! The 90gal is about due for a proper clean out, which takes a few hours start to finish, so thats on the top of the to-do list! |

| Jeesh Nick.. that looks awfully painful! You know, your not supposed to stab yourself... but I have to ask.. what WERE you trying to stab at work?
and as advised above... make sure to wear those gloves while handling and cleaning out the tank.. you can really do some (more) damage if you are not protecting your wound.
Glad to hear that you will not have any nerve damage! Take care of yourself.. |

| I was cutting a very thick piece of rubber when the knife slipped and..........well you can pretty much guess the rest! And just my luck, I'd just put a new blade into the knife, so it was pretty much as sharp as possible! |

Then you are really really lucky not to have any nerve damage. Give it time to heal and dont move that thumb around...or your going to keep opening it up! (ok.. thats just the Mom in me..sorry) |

| It's been stitched up pretty well! The stitches don't come out until next friday so I'll be off work until at least the monday after that. I'm bidding on a new 75gal tank at the moment, which if I get it, is going to be my final grow out tank for my Livebearer fry, until it's time for them to go to the various Petstores that I supply, so that will keep me busy for a while, fingers crossed! |

| Ouch! Sorry to hear about your thumb Nick That is such a bummer. Sounds like you were really lucky. My dad cut off the tip of his thumb with a joiner when I was a kid and the top of his thumb has been numb ever since. I remember when it happened...yuck. |

| Since you ARE typing, are you right-handed? If you're a lefty, welcome to the world of Normal Things Are Harder Now...I spent six weeks in a right-arm Spika thumb cast once (I'm right-handed) - couldn't write, type, open doors, comb my hair, eat...
Glad it's on the mend! |
