| Luckiest fishkeeper ever??? So who is this person??
My sister!
She got a call from a friend yesterday that said some friends of hers are remodeling their house and have a fishtank they want to get rid of with fish.
She went to take a look at it today and here is what they showed her...
A 700 GLN ( you read it right! 700 gln) saltwater set up with live rock, coral, fish, Metal Halide lights, a 55 gln sump etc. etc. etc. and its own custom stand. I cant imagine what it must be worth!
They gave her a twenty gln with stand while she was there as well.
Can you tell I am jealous! She has a 55 gln freshwater but has never kept Salties before. She is going to have the help of the person giving it to her but she will have a TON to learn.
She lives a few hours away but I will see if I can get over to help them move it...and of course get pics.
Some people have ALL the luck huh? lol |

I don't know how they are going to move it and keep everything going.
They said it takes six people to move the tank empty. |

| Is it built into the wall? As in custom made? Wow, I can't imagine trying to find room for that in my house... |

| It is a fake wall yes.Designed to look like the existing I guess. The top actually comes off and all cleaning is done from a the ladder. I have shots from the top inside the fake wall as well. Pretty neat set up!
My sister has a converted garage they are going to set it up in. Concrete floors should be about the only thing I would want to put it on. The weight filled must be huge!~ |

| I am not sure as to the logistics of moving it. I know the live rock and sand need to go with it but I am not sure what she needs to do in terms of water.
6K!!! YIKES!!!!
I do water damage restoration for a living and if the thing ever breaks at least she knows someone. LOL
I am picturing water changes. The cost of the water alone would be huge! If she ever needs the "daily 50% changes" she will be very sorry. HAHA Last edited by Nate McFin; May 12th, 2009 at 10:59 PM.

| Amazing tank and situation! I'm not a saltwater guy and am having random thoughts of how many neons I could fit in there and the possibility of being able to supply the entire tri-state area with neons after they start breeding in that monster tank! |

| 1,000,000 Neons hahaha. I would love to see that eventhough I am a Cardinal guy.
Feeding time would consist of 14 pounds of Daphnia! I was just talking to her about water changes. She thought ..."I will just run a hose outside into the yard". (She waters plants with her 55 FW during water changes. She didn't stop to consider what the salt would do to the lawn. |

I think most people with huge tanks or even the bigger tanks usually stock their tanks with larger fishes............you give me a tank like that and I would stock it to the max with schooling species of tetras. |

| Wow that is so great. Since she is getting it for free, she may could hire a profesional to help her move it properlly and set it up. It may be cheaper in the long run since it has live fish and rock. It would be terrible to have problems with that much water to deal with and change out if she had problems. |

She now has a friend coming down from Portland next week who has kept SW for years. She would take them sooner but the LFS didn't have enough salt in stock to make the change.(Even with the 50# of salt she is already getting for free!) I will post pics when I get them.
They have got a bunch of large plastic containers to help move some of the water and have loads of salt on order.
The tank is not in the best of shape right now as maintenance has been really neglected. The coral is really faded and if may not be alive anymore.
I dont think the lighting was up to par for Coral but the LFS has a 7ft Metal Halide he is going to sell her for $300. |

One thing I keep wondering is how they go from the RO unit ,which is 2- 55 gallon drums, then add salt, then to the tank. It seems like the water would have to be warm before hand. I wonder how they are supposed to heat the water. |
