Just checking in

Ok, so for some ungodly reason I woke up at 4am and can't get back to sleep. So I poured the coffee, and decided to stay up (I'm crazy, right?).

I haven't been posting so much lately because me and my fiance got truly sucked back into Diablo 2. It's not like I haven't played it a ridiculous number of times when it came out (of course had every class). But it was nice to be able to play something with him again. See, We both had old, decrepit computers. But both were able to run warcraft; and when I met him we both played that game. So we spent an awful lot of time running around together on there.

But then my computer decided to finally breathe its last on me. It wasn't totally unexpected; the thing was a rattling hunk of junk for its entire life pretty much. Was just one of those "lemons" pretty much. So for a good 6 months I didn't have any computer at all. And in that time frame, I was finally bored with warcraft anyway after having played for 3+ years.

So I finally got a new computer. But now the problem is that our systems are so different there is little we can play together. I have vista on mine; and of course have found that alot of my old games don't really work on it. Except Diablo 2!

So that's what I've been doing. My fishies are doing well. Thankfully, the two I lost have been my only problems. I'm still not sure what happened there, but due to the similarity in symptoms and progression I can only assume their stock was diseased. Devo, as always, is doing great. He looks so huge to me. Aragorn, who is my desk buddy is doing great too; he is a very outgoing and feisty little fish. He's even begun jumping for his food; yesterday I held a bloodworm about a half inch above the surface of the water, and he jumped to take it from me. He even got a bubble nest going! Mephisto seems well adjusted and generally happy; except he's got a sensitive tummy. I've had to readjust his feeding tremendously and experiment on proper amounts; because he bloats up VERY VERY easily. I've already had to feed him peas twice since I got him while I've been trying to figure out a proper amount.

My corys are also doing great, whimsical little creatures they are. I really do love those little guys. They are shy, but not skittish. They swim away if you approach too quickly; but when 3pm or so hits they lay in a "train" formation right at the front of the tank where the lid lifts up (this is afternoon feeding time). They are also lazy sometimes, but go into a frenzy of excitement right after they eat (this is when they tend to wall dance). I have three types of food for them; sinking shrimp tabs, algae wafers, and some other veggie tabs. They usually get the shrimp and the wafers. The veggie tabs I don't normally give them because they annoy the out of me; they usually don't sink right away, and end up floating to some small crevice that I have to fish them out from. But because it had been awhile I decided to put one in there. Well, they certainly seemed to like it! All four of them acted like excited children for a good while after that.

What else to mention... algae! Oh yes, I am not done with the algae. The brown in the 10 has pretty much gone away and been replaced by green. It seems pretty benign though; it's not blue green, or green spot (which I hear is hard to remove). Just your run of the mill green stuff. But it's also not so bad either. I've been turning the light off in the middle of the day for about 2 hours because I heard that the interruption really messes with algae's cycles (not sure how true that is). So far so good! I also have more of the little ramshorn pest snails. It used to be I would only find one or two at a time, but now I have many more in there; see I figured I would let them live, since I don't overfeed my tank and have no live plants to rot. My hope was that the population would stay in control because of this, and heck maybe I get a free bunch of little algae cleaners in there.

My apologies if I already posted these elsewhere, but I couldn't remember if I had! So here are a few pics.

This one is way too dark, but since it's a front view of Aragorn's beard I thought it was cute.

And then of course, this one is self explanatory.

Gorgeous fish! I was just reading your post re: reputation points. Personally, I tend to "listen" to the people I see posting all the time. I look at their info to see how long they have been fishkeeping as opposed to rep points. It's not that new people can't give good advice, but as a newcomer, I think experience says alot. Please keep posting, we need all the help we can ge! Cheers

Sterbais. I do love them dearly. Their gentle and whimsical nature sucked me into being a corydora lover very shortly after I got them.
