Could the Knight have done such a thing?

I am baffled ... I went to feed the 22 gal brackish tank frozen blood worms as usual, and could not find one of the mollies (male) ... 4 BB Gobies and the Knight Goby are all fine ... I turned over everything in the tank ... checked the floor ALL around the stand and can not find even a small trace of the dalmation molly ... Is it possible that the Knight Goby ate him and did not leave a trace? The filters are clean ... maybe he could be buried in the crushed coral ...

Hmmmm....

He'll turn up. I have 3KG and unless they can fit it into their mouth all at once they usually wont bother.

Good point ... thanks ... I was looking for other folks with KG experience ...

Another scenario was brought to my attention ... it could be that the molly died and the gobies picked at him as a snack ... I loaded the tank with snails last week in preparation for the figure 8 puffer that I am going to get tomorrow ... so the snails may have cleaned things up ...

I have to do a PWC tomorrow, I will give the tank another inspection and "call it a day" for the molly if not found ... drove me crazy all afternoon!

Well ... woke up this morning to no mollies whatsoever! ... I'm really shocked ... I can't imagine that the BB gobies got to both of them 2 nights in a row ... and I have a hard time with believing that the Knight Goby ate them ... oh well ... lesson learned ...

On the bright side ... We just came home with our figure 8 puffer ... from the same tank as the KG at the LFS ... nice to see activity in the tank ...

I brought my fig8 and KG's home at the same time. I also have 3 Celebese Rainbows, a Rhinohorn Goby and at one time 5 Orange Chromides, (now down to 2)
You got my curiosity going though with the molly thingy..hmmm..not sure the BB's would kill em but may pick on em if they were already dead.....just wondering are the mollies your getting from your LFS brackish or freshwater?

The mollies at the LFS were in freshwater, acclimated them over the course of 2 weeks to a SG of 1.002-4 ... they were thriving for 2 weeks until I added the BBGs and the KG ... Not even one sign of either being sick ...

LOL! I did a PWC just to turn everything upside down ... vacuumed the crushed coral ... pulled the filter apart ... It is REAL spooky ... gone without a trace ... I had the flashlight out looking EVERYWHERE within 20 feet of the tank ....

Puffer & Knight Goby are doing well though ... good appetites so far ... leaving the BB Gobies alone ... but there's always tomorrow! LOL!

You will be the first to know if I find them ...

Have you looked under the couch? Have you at least put out an A.P.B. on em?
My Knights and 8 are doing great also. Rainbows are fiesty as ever! Hardy lil fishes they are. You should really get some.
Their middle dwellers which is a real plus when your keeping gobies. Talk about a pretty lil fish and very active, hardy and just plain fun to watch.
I usually keep my SG around .08 puffers like it a lil higher and the rest will acclimate to it.
I finally removed my last 2 Chromides and returned them to my 26 fresh. They weren't doing any better and I at least wanted to give them a fighting chance. Lets hope it isn't to later for em.

We tore everything apart ... moved furniture ... looked in places that we didn't even know that we had! LOL!

They are GONE ... not even a trace ...

I manage the local emergency medical services ... I'll let the dispatchers know that we should be on the lookout for dalmation mollies ... last seen heading north in a brackish tank ... couldn't get a plate number ... LOL!

My knight goby will NOT come out ... we see him out for a bit of food, then he hides never to be seen until the next feeding ... A=0, Ni=0, Na=5, pH=7.8 to 8.0 ... SG 1.005 ... 20% water changes weekly ... he looks healthy, but I wonder is he is still stressed ... he's been home for 3 weeks now.

The LFS kept him in a 100 gallon brackish tank with several species including eels ... I wonder if he still thinks that eels could get him ...

Wel, time for a PWC for 2 of my tanks ... I actually find it relaxing ...

I can't believe their just GONE! Kind of reminds me of the washing machine sock monster.
My KG hide a lot too. Yet at feeding time they actually will eat out of my hand, and I mean they get right into my hand.
I've been having trouble with my nitrate/nitrite levels. It's so strange because I've never had this prob before. It just soared! WC doesn't seem to be helping at all. Speaking of wc, I'm off.....
