Hi,

I'm planning to paint my room this week, and I was wondering if the fumes from the paint would hurt my fish?
I thought I read somewhere that paint fumes were harmful to fish, but I can't find or remember the place.

Evening. I think as long as you're using a water based paint....well ventilated everything will be fine. I've painted the entire insides of my house and they were not affected. Don't forget your drop cloths!

I'm not sure if my paint is water based, is it okay if it's latex based? It says "interior latex" on the can.

Water based paint will wash off of your paint brush with just water. Oil based paint will not. You'll have to use chems to remove oil based from the brush. That is one way to tell. Oil based paint puts off different types of fumes that may be bad for you as well as the fish. Either or, good ventilation is key.

Also I would cover the tank with a towel or something to prevent .. A) spills into the tank ( obvious I know...lol) ..B) any fumes in the air having easy access to the water....should be fine.

if you have an air pump for air stones or somthing like that i would turn it off so that will not be putting the fumes in the tank either!
