| For the love of... I don't know how many remember when I got the 29gallon last year, the back exploded/cracked with no warning. Petsmart refunded the cost of the tank and gave me a new one and it's lasted from about March til now.... TIL NOW. I have no clue why or what happened, but I woke up this morning to a partially drained tank and am unable to find where the leak is occurring from. This time it looks like the silicone has failed somewhere.... I am so annoyed right now. |

| Oh dear! I remember when the tank broke. Sounds like it's time to contact the manufacturer. |

| I've got it set up on a makeshift stand right now filled with water looking for leaks. I am unable to find any spot where it's leaking so now I'm questioning whether the tank was leaking or not. I had to take the AC30 off yesterday as it quit working for some reason. This meant taking off the impeller motor/housing to clean it out, but there was nothing to clean off. I'm questioning whether I put it on securely or not andn if it was leaking out from there at that location. The tank has been filled for 15 mintues now and I am seeing no leaks on it at all. I'm gonna fill it to the top and place the filter on it and see where that gets me.
..............

User error I am pretty confident at this point. I don't know how many folks use the Aquaclear series but there is a tab on the impeller motor/housing that you flip down to keep the tank level and even with the tank.. Looking at it, it looks as if I did not do this and the filter was leaning over somewhat caddy-cornered(sp?) and the water in the filter was pooling in to the back right of the filter where the water came in via the intake and was pushed over to the out flow. This will be good cause I don't have to find a new tank.. but I'm going to need to find a new stand and do some serious carpet cleaning Last edited by FL CommunityFans; March 7th, 2009 at 10:59 AM.

| Well, at least it wasn't the tank... for what that's worth.
Glad you figured out what's wrong and can fix it. |

I am unable to recreate the issue. I can't decide if I should move the tank back in the house and try to recreate it or what...
.. on top of all this, 2 of my yoyo's are gone now.. I have no idea where they went as they were there last night when i fed them. Pulled out everything around the tank and found no signs of them They had gotten to 4 inches too |

| Did you check the inside of the filter, and all around the stand? For that matter, do you have furry pets? They may have ended up in the filter (and may have caused part of the problem), or they may have ended up on the floor for whatever reason. At that size, and with the water on the floor, they may have survived. Or, if you have furry pets, they may have become a snack. |

yea I checked the inside of the filter.. they are too big, I would think to fit in to the AC, as it is packed full of media. Furry pets are kenneled up at night and have been outside all morning since we woke up and found the incident. Only thing I can think of is they stuck to the inside of some of the decor when I was taking it out but I am not confident with that. |

| Any pieces of furniture nearby that they might have flopped under or behind, putting them out of immediate line of sight?
Sorry, I'm kind of grasping at straws now. |

| I'm so sorry for the issues you are having. I've been there too. One of my tanks had a leak and i replace all the silicone and waited one full week to give give some curing time for the silicone. Then i filled the tank on the garage and it was there for another week or so. So I moved the tank inside and set it up and moved my fish and filter to the new tank. Went to bed around 9pm and around 4 in the morning my wife gets up with one of the kids(baby) and goes to the kitchen get the baby bottle ready and as soon as she steps on the carpet squish! Turned the light on and half of the tank is empty. My guess was since I moved the tank by myself a little pressure in one side got the silicone messed up and there is a leak. i know how annoying is to deal with this stuff specially in the middle of the night. Well my only guess in your problem is the filter connection with the impeller area if you have a HOB filter. Good Luck. |

Sorry, I'm kind of grasping at straws now. | Ok just found one. he was in a huge 'castle' decor piece stuck in an awkward position. The water pressure probably forced him there as I was pulling it out. He was wel enough to stab me with his barb so I'm hoping he pulls through. Still looking for teh 3rd one with no luck so far. That was the only piece of decor they would have been big enough to fit in to unnoticeably I think. |

| Such an awful thing to wake up to, hope it doesn't happen again. Can you share what type of stand the first tank sat on that exploded? Particle board or solid wood? I ask because my 60 suits on a particle board and will not rest easy until I weld a steel inside frame with adjusters. |

| wow, what a day your having! sorry to hear about all your bad luck, its crazy sometimes how water critters can just up and disappear, ive had it happen with dwarf frogs, but those little guys are a little easier to understand going MIA, 4" shouldnt disappear, im sure they are all in there somewhere |

| Oh man, I can totally relate. I had a filter crack and I came home to 10 gallons of water all over my carpet and my tank 1/3 empty. That is so frustrating. Hopefully you can find the source of the problem |
