| The fish Gods are mad I'm thinking I must have made the fish gods mad or something. ...My plan to get a pair of Angelfish went completely wrong. I bought 6 baby Angelfish and 5 of them didn't make it. ..It was a awful ordeal and I hated even going to look at the tank because I knew something would be wrong everytime I did. This lasted a couple of days...So just when I think all is well and I can quit being sick to my tummy, I see that one of my ottos have passed. ..Geeze...The other two are still active and healthy but so was that one. RIP ottos and Angels. Somebody must be mad at me.....I've lost 6 fish in 1 week. This was just not my week for sure. Have the fish gods ever been mad at you guys?? |

| That happened to me & my angels also. I lost 4 in a week. And a gourami.
I was the same way - would get sick to my stomach just to go look at the tank.
It was awfull...then I got ICH.
From bad to worse. |

| I'm really sorry Cesch, that stinks. I know you probably checked all the usual suspects, ammonia etc..... |

| i heard that angels can only survive in certain pH conditions. dont know about the rest of your fish tho. unless your angels brought in a disease. when adding new fish do you dump the bag water into your tank after floating them? |

| I’m so sorry for your loss. This is truly a difficult hobby emotionally. Yes the fish gods seem to have it in for me too. Hmmm… I wonder if that’s because I eat so much seafood? |

| i'm really sorry to hear that cesch i haven't had many losses so far (since november when i started) but i'm keeping my fingers crossed.....i've gotten lucky, even my very first betta who lived in a goldfish bowl before i knew anything about fish has survived thus far.... |

| Thanks guys,
Yeah the water conditions were 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 10 nitrate and 7.4 PH...I think the Angels were just to small and I did call the LFS and they lost all of that shipment so I'm thinking it wouldn't have mattered what I did....I hadn't lost many fish up untill this point but I got my fair share now. I don't think they had a disease just being shipped and then moved to my home was a little to much. Just very disappointing and sad. |

| Is it something with angels lately? Does anyone know?
Petsmart lost every angel in there shipment that I bought from, and they still don't have any angels. |

| hmmmm...makes you wonder..That is allot of fish to be losing..My LFS had 4 tanks full of baby Angles and lost all of them..They sell for 5.99 so that's quite a loss...They were the dime size ones though..The quarter ones sell for 7.99 |

| Yeah!
I'm beginning to wonder if there is something wrong in the angel stock.
Even the angel I bought from my LFS died. |

| It sure sounds like something went wrong with their shipment.
Doesn't make it any easier, I'm sure.
With so many losing them from different areas, it kinda reminds me of when Betta's and Gourami's were dying from that virus. |

| I'm really sorry to hear about your loss Cesch. That really sucks. I remember in December losing nine fish in two days - I felt just devastated.
I've been reading a lot of threads lately where ppl are battling 'mystery illnesses' in their fish (me too atm). I wonder if there isn't some endemic fish virus out there - if it's viral it's not going to respond to any meds we try. |

| I was told by someone over at aquariacentral that all the gourami species coming out of asia over the last year have been very weak species. Not sure if this would apply to angels? |

| Aw Cesch, I'm sorry you lost so many fishies
I've had times like that, particularly when we lost several fish and our dog of 14 years all within a week or two of each other
Sounds like there was something wrong with that shipment. I hope you have better luck with your other fish |

| awww choffman im so sorry!!! my heart breaks for you!
I havent ever had lucky with juvie angels..I think the water differences between mine and what they are kept in, are too much for them...my last pair that I bought, and body size of the a soda can bottom, are fine...but the tank had been running over a year also..they are just so sensitive to everything and acclimating is hard for the juvies...you are an amazing fish mom so dont be hard on yourself..but again im very sorry ! |

You don't want to put them in 8.2 Ph but anything close to 7 works. Mine was 7.4 or so. I went to a different LFS today in the same town as the one I bought the baby Angles from and they said This other store was notorious for not quarantining their fish and have a high loss rate. But they all use tap water to acclimate their fish and it runs about 7.4-7.8. I'm sure too big of a change to fast isn't good, just like any fish. |

| I guess Angels are on the list of fish I can't have.
My pH usually sits pretty close to 8. |

| I find that angels are pretty hardy. These days, they're not as hardy bcuz of mass production and I wouldn't get them from stores like Petco and Petsmart because they have NEVER survived more than a week. Try to find a local breeder or a store with good reputation. |

| Of all my fishy successes I've had over the years, I always have had a hard time with angels. I don't know what the secret is at all......... Its really a bummer for me because I love angels but I've given up on trying to keep them. |

| I hope I don't continue to have problems. I have my one little guy left and he's looking pretty lonely. I think I'm going to get 5 more and acclimate them for 2 hours or so and make the transition as easy as possible. But if this doesn't work..I'm out I had such good luck with my other Angels, I'm hoping it wasn't a fluke. I just keep telling myself it was the shipment, since the LFS lost all theirs to...It makes me a feel a little better about the whole ugly ordeal. |

There's a few folks who sell huge lots of angels on aquabid. You could always keep a portion of them and give the rest to your LFS |
