What a difference!

I was looking at the Jewel Cichlids at the petstore this morning, the same tank that my 2 came from about 3 weeks ago. The ones in the pet store are all about 2 inches long, and have no colour at all, although they look to be reasonably well cared for. In the 3 weeks since my 2 came home they have grown nearly an inch, and have developed a very nice healthy colour. It just goes to show the difference a good home makes!

The first pic is the day that they came home, the second was taken 2 weeks after..........

Wow! That's impressive Nick!
I was thinking of getting a single one for my 55 gal. but I'm not sure how it would get along with my parrot.

I was reading about jewels on MFK.com manda, and the consensus was that Jewels are pretty aggressive.

I have to say that they're some of the best fish I own. Great colour and always on the move! How big is the Parrot? A Jewel might be ok as long as the Parrot is bigger than him. Mine swim around side by side with my Oscar, although he is about 10 times their size!
