Responsible Fishkeeping Inititive

While reading Marches issue of one of my favorite aquarium hobby magazines I came across a very interesting article. The article is about a movement called the "Responsible Fishkeeping Initiative"
This Initiative is "an effort on the part of concerned people and companies to put a stop to the release of anything from an aquarium into the wild."(quoted from Aquarium Fish magazine). This Initiative encourages the stores not to sell the three biggies in tank busters- Pacu, Red tail Catfish, and Irridescent Sharks which all get over three feet. You can go here to read the rest of the article and to join the initiative if you so desire. Doesn't cost anything and you get a bumper sticker http://www.fishchannel.com/rfi.aspx

Now we need to send this to all the companies we've been gripping about LOL

I was very impressed myself. Hope it goes over well. Companies that join get a huge poster to put up showing they they are being responsible by not selling these fish and why. They already have a good list of companies but I would love to see it grow.

Wow Carol. This is great!!!..Thanks for bringing it to my attention. I will be sending this link to Managers for the 3 Walmarts closest to me that sell fish. They all carry the big tank busters.. Our State Wild Life and Parks is in our town...The scientist who does all the marine studies just happens to be our close friend, I wonder if I can get him to help persuade them. Thanks again. This is a great cause. I encourage everyone to do the same.
