Talk a bout one heck of a day, most of it not good. Start off with my wifes mother was in the hospital and by the end of the day was diagnosed with kidney disease, I had my grandmother come watch my 20 month old while I rented a uhal to go pick up a new king size mattress set. While On the road the back of the uhal flies open, unknown to me until I got home. Evidently I had no clue how I was supposed to latch it to resecure the stinking thing. Lucky me, nothing fell out and was fine n dandy when I got home. This was supposed to be a 1 hour process. It ended up taking me 3. My poor grandmother, love her to death, is diabetic and had nothing to eat and didn't want to make a sandwich without making sure it was ok first. She's too polite sometimes. I ran and got us some sandwiches as soon as I got to the house and then had to run and pick my oldest up from school. Had to use grams car since my truck was still at the uhaul facility. Anyhow, go to take the uhaul back and the dang back door, when it popped up(remember?) went too far up and I was unable to figure out how to get it to come down. After nearly having to pay for a new door, I came to the realization that I had locked it which was keeping me from moving the latch back out. Stole the uhaul keys from the manager real quick and ran out to the truck and started fiddling. She ran behind me to make sure I wasn't gonna go crazy(not really - she was a real sweetheart) and in the midst of me trying to unlock this lock to free the latch My arm is nearly sliced off. These doors on those trucks have some serious springs keeping the doors up and back and I was using one arm stuffed up underneath teh roof and door to unlock and fiddle with the latch and the other arm was trying.. shakingly(new word here!

), to keep the door from prying back down.. on top of my arm. Slipped a few times and I have some decent bruises because of it, but I managed to get it freed. Hey, take my arm, I'm not paying excess fees! lol
So finally get settled at home and can work on setting up the new filter and lights right? NOPE!!!! I had to move the new king bed off the porch and up to the 2nd floor and get it ready to surprise my wife.
WORD FOR THE WISE: Don't ever move a king size bed up a flight of stairs if you don't have to! I didn't have to.. could have gotten help, but at this point in the day I was just fed up and wanted thigsn done and done NOW. The shape of the stairwell made it so the bed HAD to bend at a certain degree of angle so I started freaking out about warping the mattress. Ended up not being a big deal but MAN was I tired. I haven't had a workout like that in I don't know how long. Literally had to fight with the thing to keep it from becoming stuck in the stairwell. Finally got the bed done! Looks flipping great btw, and is comfy as all heck. We had some 800thread count sheets we bought 2 years ago when we originally wanted to buy a new bed, but some things came up and we weren't able to then. They're in good use now though!
SOOOO Now I can work on the filter and light right?
YES!!! finally. Got the eheim 2026 pro II from bigals and man.. this thing is a freaking ox of a beast! Flatout huge, in my terms, as it's the largest filter I own or have owned. So I follow the directions to a T, right? Go to prime the thing, which is supposed to be SUPER easy, right? Well guess what? IT WAS SUPER EASY!!! Only it didn't prime like it's supposed to....sooo I spent a good 15 minutes sweating it out trying to figure out what the deal was. After staring up the backside of the tank while pushing the prime button(which is the size of a cantaloupe!! NICE!!!)) I notice a thread cap(or whatever) that was supposed to be tightened on the top of the intake was leaking water when I got the water to the right height when priming. I realized it was sucking in a massive amount of air here!! Fixed this issue and what ya know? It works great. The spray bar and media came with it and that spray bar puts out some POW-UH!!! So nice. Tank was a mess a bit but within an hour it was looking much better. That filter is nice n strong!!

It's coupled with an emp 400 right now. The light fixture was the T5HO 48" dual light setup from Hagen. I have a Life glo(6700K ) and a Power Glo(18000K) bulb in it it right now and the light is BLINDING. It's insane. We can just have that light on in the bedroom and it's enough. Insane I tell ya. It also came with a free timer which was nice.
managed to cap a few pics off with my point n shoot. Tank is really coming along. I EVEN managed to get some pics of my L030 and L066 plecos they weren't being too shy for once. My L255 is missing though. She's always hiding and never works with me to take a picture
Things for reading my ranty day... here's some pics to enjoy.. well semi at least.
(((regarding the barren nature of the tank right now _ I have 10 x 6-10" pieces of
driftwood and 20-25plants.. mostly anubias and ferns and moss of different types on the way.. supposed to be shipped out on Monday hopefully)))
No Flash - the tank is this bright
Tank is darker in these pics with the flash on:
