when i was a little girl i always remembered going to my great aunt and uncles house, my uncle had multiple FW fish tanks and i was always amased by them staring at the tanks for hours. i remember these fish that swam on top of the water and i think upside down too, and they aren't upside down catfish. has anyone heard of or no what they are?i can't seem to find anything like them?

Hatchets maybe?

could it be African butterfly fish?? they swim on the top but not upside down...a child might think they were tho from looking at them. They kinda look like a moth on the water.

no there where a few of the same fish all the other fish looked fine.maybe the fish looked like they swam upside down on top of the water, it was along time ago. but if anyone comes across anything let me know.
