Help My Fish are Dying

I have a 35 gallon tank with Oscars...Well i bought two at first with an algae eater...well week later one of the fish died...and i belive it was because the otther fish was real aggressive. Well i was feeding them feeder fish..so i bought two more...and the other fish the same one was attacking the other fish..My tanks was always clean...then i bought some pellets and my water was so fogging and found out they had killed my Algae Eater i mean gutted it out...So i did a water change my house was smelling so bad...i bought the stress conditioner and alagae stuff for the tank...I had these fish before but it something i am doing wrong...ok..so today i woke up and two of them are dead and teh tank is still a little foggy...what am i doing wrong...i have an heater on 82 and Whisper 40 filter...and a air pump that just floats....pleae help..i have lost four and hope the other one is still living...i need to start fresh...

what little I do know about oscars is that they can be incredibly aggressive and territorial, I wouldn't recommend keeping any in a community tank, because he will just eat the other fish, some people do just fine with oscars and cichlids, but I could have told you that the algae eater would have been slaughtered. if you must have an oscar, do more research on them, and if yours is particularly aggressive, don't put any other fish in the tank until you know more, because they will likely be killed.

welcome to fishlore ...im sorry about the loss of your fish

first off one oscar needs about 55 gals and even as juvies, they should be in 55 for more than one...how did you cycle the tank? with that many fish in a 35 gal your ammonia and nitrates are probably super high ...have you tested the ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates? if so what are they?

the oscars may have eaten the plec after it was dead, but they dont usually pick on them per say as they are too hard scaled ...that and they dont have the fun of a chase with plecs...

how did you cycle the tank ?thats probably an issue... it says you know about the nitrogen cycle and thats very important step before adding any fish ...maybe the cycle crashed because of the big fish you added?
