| Buyers remorse Has anyone bought fish only to wish they hadn't?
I went out today to get a few male guppies.
40 miles to petsmart....I didn't like them there.
Another 40 miles to another fish store.....they had even less of a selection. Since it's another 40 miles home, I settled on a few females.
I got home acclimated them set them loose and I don't really like them.
I'm thinking of returning them tomorrow. |

Its really irritating
I done it with my malawi cichlids
set the tank up, went and spent about £40 on malawis, came home and decided i didnt like them after about a week |

| Of course. I think the only real time i've had it was after a few of my Penang Eruption discus died for no reason. Quite a hefty amount of money to drop just to have them die. I had it up until i talked to Kenny who went above and beyond on my next order to compensate for the fish dying out of the blue. So i no longer have it.
I seem to have buyer's remorse more on equipment purchases then fish. Like buying a brand new skimmer and light setup for a future SW tank, only to decide later that i didn't want to do another SW tank. |

| I have done this many times....so for that reason, I got a 20 gal live bearer tank and just put them in there...and sometimes I need to just buy something to help me feel better...then the next day I end up taking them to my grandddaughter....crazy fish ppl we are! |

| I went out and bought a male platy to go with my females only to have the females die a couple weeks later, i think they were older than i thought and the stress of being harassed by a male was to much for them.
Now in stuck with this annoying fish i don't want and refuse to buy females for even if the other fish would love a live protein snack once in a while.

| That seems odd to me. The only fish I've ever regretted buying was Zebra Danios, but that was about 6 months later when they started killing each other....they can be such a pain. |

| I have impulse bought fish before, once the guy behind me at the pet shop had an aquarium kit in his arms and was looking at fish, I said to myself (he doesn't know about the cycle) and I didn't want to see the fish suffer, he said to the lady I am thinking about some guppies (there were about 10 left in the tank) so I hurried and got an employee to bag me up all the guppies they had! I couldn't bear to see the fish getting dumped in a un cycled aquarium so in my ignorance I purchased all the guppies they had and brought them home! |

| Yep, I've had regrets. Well, actually, they wouldn't be regrets if I wasn't so limited in my tank space. |

| I was given 4 von rio tetras as a gift from my parents. They are such boring fish and I don't care for tetras to begin with, but my father likes them so I couldn't say no. |

| Yep, there is a cichild I regret buying. It was one my husband picked out and I still have it, I am almost 99 percent sure its a mutt. I can't get rid of it because I don't want someone to get their ands on a mutt cichild and try to breed it, so I have kept it anyways. (he is our "cheif" he looks like an indan cheif to me) He does get along w/ everything in my tank, and stays away from my breeding groups. |

| One of my 2 male Platys. All he does is chase the females AND the other male. I only bought him cause I thought 2 males/4 females would be a good balance but he's just a pain. Thought about putting him in with my Oscars to see how he likes it! But can't bring myself to do it |

| I'm glad I'm not alone. I thought maybe by today they're grow on me. They didn't.
I returned the 3 female guppies. When I called a clerk said they'd take them back at 50%. Good enough for me, but when I went there the owner gave me 100% of my money back.
Nice guy. |

| Thats good to hear Lucy, have you decided what you want to put in the tank?
Once a LFS told me that tiger barbs would be ok with my community fish, not knowing much about them i listened to him and they attacked most of my fish, they were returned less than 24hrs later.
Oh i regret buying my school of emperor tetras, i have had them for over 5 weeks and have never seen them all at once they all hide and if they come out its one at a time then rotate. |

| Cool Lucy you got your full money back. My Petsmart gives full refunds, so that's cool. Why I like to get fish at Petco and PetSmart, they seem a little better in returning fish (dead or alive) than a independent owned store. |

| I'm sorry to hear that, kathy. Really don't blame yourself. You'd think the people at the pet store would give better advice.
You're learning and researching now, so thats a good thing. |

| I bought a clown pleco a while ago and the only time I see him is when I re-arrange his driftwood, he's going back soon though. I just hope that my new tank setup won't be boring. |

| I have a few of my betta boys that (regret is such a harsh word) I bought mostly due to their looks... I'm swearing that off now and going back to picking rescue babies. I like my pretty boys but I never got that attachment to them... |

| I feel ya Red.... I bought one of my boys just cause he had neat colors, and another just because I felt sorry for him... One of them died, and the other is going away to a better home soon...
But the ones that just love me, especially Winter and my little princess Volta, I can't imagine being without them. |

| There's not one fish i've regretted buyig so far. Aside from our 10gallon tank that my daughter keeps in her room - I've done nearly a months worth of looking to research compatibility etc on the stocking. I then ended up special ordering them or going to our pricier mom-n-pop LFS to get them. Wife gets irritated with me with the amount of reading in to things I do.. she thinks it's too much. It's worked for me so far though. I haven't bought a fish I didn't like and hopefully it continues that way.
Though to me it sounds like Lucy had "Iwannafishtoday' syndrome god knows I've had that plenty of times, but then the wife was there to tell me, "Ugh really? that one looks horrible. get one next month from that other guy, I'm ready to go."
LOL!! |

| This happens to me alot. My tank is only 30 gal and there are more fish that I like than I can fit. I have a spare fish tank to put anything extra into but I can't seem to help myself sometimes. |

| yep. you can see my post in the pleco section . I am still figuring out why I bought the long fin albino BN plecos and mystery snails. I have no algae so I had my mom pick up some cucumbers to eat till I can get my hands on some algae wafers. |
