Hi folks

My goldfish has a small bit of black colour on the top of his tail. It has always been there since i got him. its part of his natural colour, funnily it looks like hes a swordtail, because he has the same sword edge at the end of his tail fin. The past couple of days ive noticed that the rest of his fins have started to change a shade of black and lines of black colour have appeared on his fins. There is also a small bit of black under his eyes. What is this ? Is he changing to his natural colour with age ? He is still happy and as active as ever.

Gold fish change colours as part of there natural life style, its perfectly healthy

I agree with ben. It wouldn't hurt to check your water parameters just in case.

goldfish are actually born a silver color (because they originated from pike, so with age the turn a goldish, yellowish, orangish color. (wow that's a lot of ishes!)

I bought a 'Black Moor' fancy gold fish and it seems to be slowly turning gold much to my dissapointment!

maybe somehow its gene pool was mixed with a calico along the way of its ancestry that's weird!

yeah, and very annoying cos he looks now! :P
all blotchy and like he's fading.

He's clearly healthy and as lively as ever - oblivious to his fading black colour...
