I uncovered the puffs today after their fullscale blackout for cyanobacteria. The walls are completely free of the algae junk.
My puffs were happy to see me! I gave them each a big ramshorn snail. They were very excited. I'm so happy I can see my puffy babies again! Even if it's only for 2 days... then it's off to Disneyland... But, they seem happy, their bellies were still white, and they're still swimming around like crazy. I'm very pleased. Now let's just keep our fingers crossed that that nasty stuff doesn't come back. I increased aeration in the tank, and I will do another waterchange later today. If it starts coming back, I'll have to find a phosphate test and hope that that is a big contributer...

I think they may have missed their food more than they missed me... but that's ok. I know I'm not as satisfying for them as a big fat snail.

I was sure to let the light in slowly. Started at the back, then around to the front, and then after a few mins turned the tank light on.

Disneyland, huh? I'm going on Friday. I love that place! (Of course, I live about an hour from it so it's easier for me to get to!!)

You'll have to keep us informed if the blackout worked for the cyanobacteria. The stuff drove me to tear down two tanks, so if all I needed was a blackout then...

I'm planning on doing some big waterchanges today and tomorrow, vacuuming the gravel really well to get the decaying organic stuff out. Hopefully that will help too.

Maybe I'll see you at Disneyland Shayna. Not that I'll know it's you. lol
