...and a giant step for bettakind!!!!

I was at our local Walmart and guess what?

THE BETTAS WERE ALL IN TANKS!!!!

there were 5 bettas there, and each was in a seperate tank, along with plecos/ corys/ ottos!!!

I talked to the worker there, and he said that they were keeping their bettas in tanks for now on!!!

course then I went to Petco and all of the bettas were in death cups!!!

They must have gotten enough complaints that they didn't want to hear about it anymore. I would faint if I walked into a store and saw bettas in their own tanks....

I just about did!!! I marched right up to the customer service and commended them right there for caring about their products the lady looked at me like I was crazy but she said she would tell the manager I appreciated the move.

then I went to petco and dropped a BIG hint that walmart cared for the bettas better then them.

If this becomes (or has become) a WalMart policy, I don't think Petsmart and Petco will be able to maintain their method of keeping bettas for very long. In any situation like this, getting one major chain to do the right thing forces the competitors to question whether or not they can afford to keep doing the wrong thing.

That's great news! We always point out when a Walmart treats bettas badly, it's nice to hear of one that's treating them right.

this is the first time I've seen them in there. Usually its death cups, but today they were in their own tanks and its staying like that!!

I hope they end up pressuring petco and other local shops to treat their bettas as well.

At least now people wll be able to see how personable they are when kept in a tank. Everyone I know always says that bettas are sooo boring when they're in cups. Of course that's only because they can barely move! Man! First Lucy's Walmart and now this.

Wal-Mart getting the word going might be what betta's need. We'll find out.

That's amazing! I don't shop at Walmart, so I don't know whether my local wm carries bettas, but that's a huge improvement! Hopefully other stores will start to catch on.

My LFS carries bettas and they have them in 60 litre tanks that are divided and they have a pair on each side

I think the world is finally seeing its error in mistreating Bettas
