Hey, I have a question about tiny black worms in my fresh water tanks. What exactly are they and are they harmful to the fish or to my families health? And we are pretty sure that they turn into little black flies after awhile as we don't see the worms for a while, but we have plenty of little flies all around the fish tank. Thanks for any help!

Well, they could be mosquito larvae, in which case they could be just a snack for your fish, and not really harmful. However, they might be coming along due to the waer conditions====

If they where fly larvae, they wouldnt be as "harmful" as the ammonia and nitrite in your tank... in your profile says that you dont know about the nitrogen cycle. Please read this:
