Shy fish?

Its seems our fish are shy....
people are like "do you have fish in that tank"...lol
its just under 2 months old now...the only loss was 2 yellow fin damsels...everything else has been ok

currently in our 29 gal tank ....1 tomato clown, 1 yellow fin damsel, 1 wrasse and 1 algae blenny...might be going today to get something to add to it

and FYI, not that it has to do with our fish shyness....
nitrites 0
nitrates 0
amonia 0
pH 8.2-8.4
water temp is 78-79
salinity is on the lower end of normal but weve had some salt accumulation on the outside of the cover, but its still in the normal range
have a light coating or a brownish algae formning....

we feed them 2x a day alternating days with flakes and brine shrimp

they dont seem afraid of each other....just of us...like if you are standing in front of the tank ...the clown fish has fanned all the sand ( almost ) out of the corner and made himself a little spot to hang
the damsel hangs in a fake plant and the wrasse and benny hide in the rock

they have plenty of places to hide...lots of plants ( fake ) and a large rock with spots to swim in and out of and hide in....part of me wants to take out the big rock so they dont just hang in there so much but I also know they need a place to hide and feel safe and secure....etc

what is a wanna be fish watcher to do?
its wrong to take away their major hiding places right?

I think you should just give it more time. I think you should leave all their hiding places since taking them out would really stress them.. Do the fish eat well? Like do they come out when you feed them and they all look healthy? Where is the tank located? I've had saltwater fish in the past and of the fish you mentioned I used to have a clown, damsel and blenny, I also had a banned cat shark and panther grouper. Blennies like to hide but they will come out. I used to stare at the tank like crazy close up and still do with my Tank s I have now and I think eventually fish get used to it. If the tank is in a busy area they might be nervous about it though and not like to much activity around. If they don't feel comfortable they won't come out. Maybe you do this already but you could try to get a chair and sit in front of the tank everyday for at least 30 minutes very close. Try to sit down and just watch them for awhile everyday I think it should help some. I hope this helps!!!!!

re-reading this I make it sound like they NEVER come out....
but they do...
they come out to eat and are usually around in the morning...and hang out
they all get along...its nice
wasnt so nice when the yellow fin damsel was picking on the other damsels but I guess he took care of that...lil meanie..bad fishy

the tomato clown seems to be the most shy...she isnt afraid of the other fish...I dont ever see any of them picking on eachother
so thats a good thing

but poor "shmemo" always seems like shed rather be int he corner ....
