So, every Halloween, there is the
HAUTE DOG Howl'oween Parade in Long Beach.

It so happens this is held ACROSS THE STREET from our House.

over 600 dogs compete.

I was thinking of going as a MERMAID and dressing SPIKE as a FISH

(last year he was a Lady Bug, under Protest by Rick of course)

I havn't been able to find a FISH costume for Spike, soooo any ideas of HOW I could Make a FISH COSTUME for Spike?

That looks so cool! Spike is gonna be adorable. I will try to think of ways to turn him into a fish. Take a look at this picture.....how funny is this:

I wonder if you can find something lik this and modify it to fit the dog...( cut off the hands and cut openings for his feet ...lol

Yep i saw those pics when i was searching. That lobster on the left looks JUST like my old dog Karl, a smooth fox terrier. and the fish dog below, that's what i'm kinda trying to make for spike.

Oh, CUTE! i went to a Kite store today to see if maybe one of those KOI wind socks would work to cut it and alter it and put his head through the fish mouth. but i didn't like the looks of it.

i've been looking for a FISH stuffed animal to cut open and take the stuffing out and sew it to a harness or tee shirt, or something like that.

i found a little goldfish, but i think its too small.

but i did find all my fabric for my part....just need to figure out spikes part!

Found a do it yourself fisherman (kid) and dogfish costume. Basically, it looks like a fin your dog wears...

Maybe you could use tagboard or cardboard to make the sides of the fish and fasten it to a harness. You could even cover the cardboard with a padded fabric to make it look more real.

i took the little stuffed gold fish i found and cut it up. I separated the head, the body and the tail. then i found an orange legging for a todler cut the leg off and made like an orange tube for spikes body, cutting holes for the ears, front legs, and his pee pee. now i just gotta sew the fish parts on the tube!!!

my mermaid costume is DONE! mint green sequin fish tail and top. i had some long hair pieces to make a LONG mermaid hair do and i bought some shells at the fish store to make shell earrings.

my hubby thinks i'm NUTS, but what else is new

I know Shawnie.......................I just flat don't approve but there's nothing I can do about it..............She thinks she can get me to wear a Neptune costume.................NOT gonna happen. As for spike, well he has no say in the matter and just has to grin and bear it.
