I'm a huge fan of Fydor Dostoevsky. I think he's one of the greatest authors to have ever written. I read Crime and Punishment about a year ago, and absolutely loved it. I named two of my fish after characters from that book (Rodya and Dmitri). And a few days ago I started The Brothers Karamazov, and I am already engrossed. Are there any other Fishlorians who are fans of the big D?

I'm a big classics nut, so I love the old books

I am a fan. I read C&P a few years ago in college and pretty much read it from cover to cover. The idiot, is another good read of his, although I haven't read the Bros. K. Right now I am trying to finish a book on alternative evolutionary theories and the "Twilight" series (by my fiance's recommendation).

Ugh... the Twilight series...
I started reading them because I heard that it was about vampires, then come to find out that it's a preteen love story. But now I have to finish them because I've just gotta know what happens! Pretty much there are very few novels that I like that aren't classics, interestingly. But tons of girls/women love the twilight series, and i'm sure some guys too. I'm just picky, lol.

I've read everything of his that Pevear and Volokhonsky have translated other than The Adolescent. Haven't had the time to start it.

If you like his works, read Notes from Underground. Good look at his ideas and personality. I really have to recommend the Pevear and Volokhonsky translations--first off, it's a consistent translation because they've done so many, and they seem to do a great job. I compared translations of Notes and a few versions made it...awkward. It didn't seem like Dostoevsky at all--of course, I had read the P+V translations of his other books, so the interpretation may be skewed--it is hard to translate without at least a small amount of your own interpretations.
