Hi Bethany, If I haven't said it before, Welcome to Fish Lore

There could be a couple of things going on.

When did you add them? Sometimes it just takes them time to get adjusted to their new surroundings.

Is your aquarium info correct? If so, you might want to keep a close eye out and make sure they're not getting picked on.

Have you checked your readings for ammonia, nitrItes and nitrAtes?
If the water parameters are off, it can make your fish act strangely.

Good luck.

Same answers/questions that Lucy gave/asked.

They may just be adjusting to the tank. They may be feeling crowded. They may be getting picked on. Any of the three would explain their current timidity.

thanks for your help, i have checked the water and it is fine so i think they might just be settling in, I am sure that they are not getting bulied as they are all tetras with a calm and peaceful mannor, Thank you!

The concern of being bullied wasn't from the neons, but from the barbs, betta, and danios. All of those fish have the potential to become bullies, particularly when they are more closely stocked.

Bethany I have had Black Neons in a 75g tank and they do swim around a bit. They just need lots of room to swim. If their crowded they tend to get stressed and just sit still. They do get a good bit larger than regular Neons, thats why I had them with my angels.

Black Neons(Hyphessobrycon herbertaxelrodi) aren't related to Neon tetras at all but called neons because of the reflective stripe down their side. They are also shaped a little different. Heres a really bad pic of the ones I had. the fat ones are females and the more slender ones are males. their size is reported to be 1-1/2 inch at maturity but I swear some of those were 2 inches
