My new 50G tank...

I set up my 50G tank 2 weeks ago. Have "fed" it daily and introduced one of the cartridges from my established tank to speed the cycling cycle. Water parameters showed a minute amount of ammonia, less than 0.25 - I did a partial water change, etc etc. Keep your fingers crossed!

My favorite LFS associate, Mark assisted us in picking out the start of this new family. We got 6 Metaes; 4 veiltail German Blue Rams; 3 male guppies - (Mark is picking up females for us) and a Dwarf frog fish - (I collect all types of frogs.)

Next week, I'd like to add a couple of Angels along with some pretty blue plattys along with some Mickey Mouse mollies - I believe they were mollies.

Of the 3 guppies, one is standoffish and does not swim with the other two. He is a little smaller, yet, he is eating. Should I be concerned?

Anyone have additional recommendations as to what to put along with the guys I mentioned?

I recommend not getting female guppys - they have no bonuses and they overstock your tank.

You sound like you are stocking it to fast: if you add to many fish at once then you will go into a mini cycle! Leave at least 2 weeks before fish introductions, and only introduce 1-4 fish at a time.

Thanks for the advise, Hatchet - So far so good. They all look like they are surviving!

I agree with hatchet...already having ammonia is a sure bet its in a mini cycle...2-4 fish added at a time then waiting 2 weeks is best as the bacteria needs time to first off seed the new tank, and then continue to keep it cycled...I wouldnt add anymore until this mini cycle finishes..daily water changes with prime could help the guppy thats being nawty...ammonia makes fish do funky things .....but would LOVE to see pics of your tank?
