Killer has a new home...

My Melanochromis Auratus - "Killer" has found a new home in my LFS - PurrFect Pets. I gave him up with tears in my eyes since he's been with us so long. He was an angry bully who killed all his other tank mates. Hopefully, he'll find a new home. I'll be able to visit him when every I want.

Marc from the store (who is wonderful, BTW) assisted me in picking out a less aggressive group of cichlids. So, yesterday we stocked my 45G with 2 Jewels; 1 Pseudotropheus Socolofi (blue); 1 Albino Pseudotropheus Socolofi (white); 1 Cynotilapa Afra. Marc is going to the wholesaler to get me 1 male / 3 female yellow Labidochromis Caeruleus. Hopefully these four will breed.

The tank already had a large Pleco who's around 10 - 12 inches along with two additional young plecos.

It is so nice to finally see colorful fish darting about!

I'm sorry you had to give him up. It sounds like you did the right thing.
It's so nice you had Marc to help you.
Enjoy your tank and post some pics so we can enjoy it too.

I haven't kept those fish before but is it the norm to keep that many in a 45g tank(still learning ) ?

Hi Lucy & Butterfly:

I will post pics sometime soon.

Butterfly - If I add 1 Yellow Lab & 2 Females - it will completely maximize my tank. I figure the housing breakdown as far as growth (inches):

3 Yellow Labs - 3.9 to 5.1 = 15
2 Socolofis - max 6" = 12
2 Jewels - 5" = 10
1 Cynotilapia afra - 6" = 6
1 Pleco = 12

My 2 smaller plecos ultimately will go into a 50 gallon tropical tank I also have. I know I'm a little overstocked but I want to keep aggression down. Ultimately if anyone of the fish dies, I will probably not add a new one but keep it as.

If I get frys, I haven't told my hubby yet, but...we'll just have to get another tank to keep the babies! Perhaps my LFS may be interested in bartering?

I am totally new at this and am trying to read as much as possible. So, I am grateful for all the input I get from you guys in Fishlore! Thanks.
