ahh fish store!

I went to the fish store to get a siamese algae eater. They had tank full of them, I checked and most of them were true siamese algae eaters. (they were cheap too, $2.50 each!) So I asked for one, and the person fished around for a while and turned out a fish. it looked fine, but I couldn't get a good look because the color faded from the stress and it was hard to look through the bag.

Then I got home and realized they gave me the ONE and ONLY chinese algae eater in the entire tank! How?! I could understand if they gave me one of the few false siamese algae eaters, but not a chinese algae eater!

Chinese algae eaters are ravenous tank cleaners...but they also like to "clean" my barbs, not so good.

I guess I'll have to take it back and get a siamese algae eater. I have to keep it in a breeder net overnight because there's no way i'm going to be able to catch such a small chinese algae eater in a 75 gallon tank...I could barely catch my full grown one!

oh i know, i was actually kind of surprised. But this store is usually especially good about keeping odd fish (like congo tetras!), that's why they're totally worth the 30-40 minute drive.

(it's aquarium adventure in Bollingbrook IL, if anyone lives near and wants some SAEs.)

i guess it was no trouble at all, I had to return the rainbowfish too. For some reason, my other fish attacked and killed one...i've never seen Danios and Congos act so aggressively.

anyway, I got my siamese algae eater, and it is indeed a true siamese algae eater. Sweet.

it's funny because it keeps following the black neons, similar but not quite right. lol
