My parents said the deal was to get rid of both the tanks before we'd think about the 50. One problem, how am I going to keep Tigre, my pride and joy in the form of a clown pleco, in my house from now until then? I have the 2.5 gallon betta tank still cycling, and there's no betta either. I dont want to have to let someone babysit her, she's seven years old! And I dont want to stress her out. I'm going to have to leave one of the tanks set up until she passes or until I gather enough courage to give her to my LFS (what are the odds of that). Couold I use the betta tank? She doesn't move around at all.

she's only two inches, half the size of her 4-inch full length. I'd be keeping her in there for maybe 2 months. I'm guessing no.

It would be hard to do. I think daily water changes of 50% and a tank setup to make her as happy as possible might work. Can you get: Prime, Fish Protector, New Life Spectrum or Omega One wafers? What's her favorite things/spots in the tank she's in now?

she likes this cave which she never comes out of. she's had it since the start of her "brand new life". I feed her algae wafers. Hikari brand. And easily able to attain these products needed.

I think if that cave fits in and you do the 50% minimum daily water changes like that, using Prime and Fish Protector BOTH to treat all water, it would make 2 months in the tank doable. A few drops daily after each water change of Vita-Chem & Garlic Guard also would help. I'd test the water before water changes as often as you felt necessary to keep an eye on the parameters.

As long as she feels safe and the water chemistry is kept good, you reduce the risk to her as much as possible.

This is so sad... How were you planning to get rid of the tanks? Craigslist? See if you can get rid of one tank to keep Tigre in and get the 50 setup and sell the other tank onces Tigre has been moved. That way you are meeting them halfway in the agreement, ya? Or even better if you are selling Craigslist you may even be able to find someone who lives close to you that would want the tank and maybe setup a deal so you can ensure your parents that you have a sure buyer. I have a couple friends interested in them and everything. But I think I can get away with selling one tank. Besides, I've had her for 7 years, it would suck to give away a friend who's lived with you for that long of time. Anyways, the fish will be given to the LFS. I have one definately interested in the 20 gallon, and one possible for the ten, which is going to be Tigre's temporary home. The 2.5 gallon will be for the betta officially.
