Wow more comments than I expected. Well to sum it up I saw three bears while at the smokies. Once in cades cove, in which the bear cubs were running up the trees and the mother was running from the road. Another time while I was running in the park. We stayed in a cabin on the border and a trail from the park went right past our cabin so I ran on that trail. While I was running I heard a bunch of rustling and not far off from the path was a bear looking for food and moving so I decided not to run in that area anymore. When we saw this group of bears we were at laurel falls, we went beyond the falls and on our way up we saw the cubs and her mom fairly far off the trail so we kept on hiking. On our way back we saw them again except they were moving parallel to the trail, towards a turn in the trail so we waited and they sure enough crossed the trail right in front of us. The mother bear came out onto the trail and looked at us and didn't care that we were there and what appeared to go back off the trail and get her cubs and then cross the trail. We were 40-50ft. away. Far enough that the mother didn't feel threatened considering she looked at us and continued on her way. We have been close to bears in the grand tetons before so it actually wasn't anything new, it was nice though that they stopped on the trail for awhile so we could get pictures. Last time I was at the smokies a cub crossed the path right in front of us and that was a little scary because he was so close and we didn't know where the mother was.
That's cool Dino, we talked to a park ranger and she had just spotted a bear in her backyard, though I'm not sure how far she was from the park.
These four pictures were taken by my dad with his nikon, don't remember the model but I can get that with a zoom lens. He didn't get a big enough bag to carry a zoom lens and the lens it came with so he actually only takes pictures with his zoom lens. He has to get a bigger bag haha.
I'm working on resizing pictures now and uploading them.
