I cant stand the wait!
I ordered three betta imbellis off of aquabid on june 2nd direct from a thailand breeder. I had bad vibes so to speak, from the beginning (after i won the bid) due to the fact the breeder told me he would send them to his transshipper in NY, and on his ad on aquabid, no NY transshipper was listed. I called other transshippers on the list, and one told me it may be a fly-by-night because transshippers come and go, another told me the person in NY, stated by the breeder, did not have the transshipping liscence as far as he knew, and the others were just unhelpful, and did not try to be. After a couple weeks of waiting i was told they would be shipped on the 23rd because he had another order going to NY then. It is now the 27th and my beautiful bettas have not arrived yet. I then emailed the breeder again and he said he would ship them in a couple days. Now i am starting to get angry, and wondering if this whole transaction was legal at all and what really happened that is delaying the shipment. Has anyone had experience ordering wilds? should a wait of a month be expected?

Hmm.. well, they tend to ship every 2-3 weeks. Things can happen to cause problems, but this delay is not something you should have to put up with. Who was the seller?

the seller is The_Sea99. I just wish he would give me a reason mostly. I'm thinking along the lines, that maybe the transhipper is waiting for her license still, although that fact was hearsay.

i looked at the sellers feedback, and he has two negative, in which the situation seems to be the same as mine. The buyer sent the money, but no fish. I feel bad for the other seller, he bid on a 260 dollar fish!

Yea, unfortunately I'm not familiar with that seller. I hope they make good by you and get you the fish that you bought.

I've never ordered bettas, but have seen favourable comments about that seller on other boards.
Here's hoping your new babies arrive soon!!

well that gives me some peace of mind to know that others have ordered from this seller, and found the experience great. I was just worried that it was a scam or something. (although who would scam with bettas! lol.. unless he's read posts on fishlore before? )

I hate the stress you're having over this. If it doesn't go through, are you out any money?

Aquabid and all other sites like this have a site on them for disputes that are like this but you have a limited time to file a complaint. RUN do not walk to that site and file a complaint about this seller and his practices. You may be able to get your money back. I had to do this and if you paid by using Pay Pal which you should ALWAYS insist on doing you are covered under their buyer protection plan. I recently got a decision that got me my money back when Customs refused to allow the plants I ordered from overseas to enter the country because they were "infested". I am just as glad not to have "infested" plants and made it clear I did not want replacement plants from the vendor but I did think I should have my money back. If I were you I would say "no replacement fish, I want my money." This is not a reputable seller or you would have your fish by now. I waited 5 weeks for my last bunch as I had just missed the shipment date but I was dealing with a well known and reputable transshipper and I had known of her from before. Please do not fall into a trap like this again and ever do business without a NAME, ADDRESS, and PHONE NUMBER that you call before you order the fish (for a transshipper). I never buy without contacting the transshipper first and with the way the fish are coming out of Thailand right now with the iridovirus, I would never order one from there right now.

Thanks Chickadee. I know, if i could go back i wouldnt have ordered because of the virus, but i wasnt aware that it was threatening bettas at the time of purchase. I want to give one final email to the seller because i must say, he is VERY prompt at answering emails. I will demand an explanation for the delay. i still have some time to file a complaint so i will wait one more day. I just want to make absolutely sure there isnt a legitimate reason, and that this is an honest mistake.

I forgot to mention that i did pay with paypal. The seller did give plenty of contact information for his transhippers on the ad, however i didn't realize until after i purchased that he was sending them to this mysterious woman in NY. I assumed that it would be the georgia transhipper, or the florida one. Next time, if there is a next time, i will DEFINITELY contact the seller before purchase. I have 45 days to file a complaint and it has been 29 days. I sent the seller one final email, demanding an explanation for the shipping delay, and the contact information of his mysterious NY transhipper. I didn't want to make an unnecessary negative comment on his profile until i gave him an opportunity to explain himself, Which i technically never really asked.

I received a reply, with the email of the transhipper. NOT the phone number. Secondly he never explained what the delay was, and said they would be shipped the 9th. I immediately emailed the transhipper and explained the situation, telling her this is unacceptable, and if they can not be shipped immediately, i will be forced to ask for my money back. If i wait until the ninth, i will only have 7 more days to file complaints, which is too close to the deadline for me.

You pay big money for a fish and bigger money to ship it ...you shouldn't have to wait a month to get them. That's my opinion!!
