To me, the money lost is well worth the 'aggrevation' he's going through.
Too bad that he has to wait long on the phone, good for him, he created this mess and is still trying to blame you.
Hopefully his account being frozen is stopping him from ripping anyone else off.
I'm really sorry you're going through all this.

The problem is you don't know if the guy is telling you the truth or not. His excuse may be true, but if he were a dishonest person he would have no problem lying to you with a sob story that's not true.
I think that you were being more than reasonable asking for a refund for a nuetral review. I don't know how much you are out to lose, but depending on your financial situation you may just decide that the negitive review is worth the money.
I would think if this guy is that poor, he would see that keeping your money and getting a negitive review will cost him money in the long run.
Of course on the other hand if he isn't moving fish anyway (i.e. not having enough to be worth the shipping price...who knows.

I agree, i do not know whether he is telling the truth or not. I would have been more patient, if he simply gave an explanation when asked, but he evaded all my questions. After the claim was filed is when the excuses (possibly the truth) came. The truth or not, the situation was handled improperly on his part.

No as I understand it his account is not frozen and he can use his PayPal account already but the first money he collects will be used to repay his claim so it is his own fault if he does not use the account. He won't use it because he does not want to honor his refund.
And I beg to differ with you but eBay is better and I had wonderful luck with my claim. I received a very quick resolution to the matter but I did not do any communications outside of the claims center or outside of PayPal. They had complete and utter control of all information sent between us from the first and I kept everything from the moment I placed my bid on. I got every penny back and quickly. I was impressed with their professionalism and help and will continue to recommend them.
I despise dealing with aquabid as they do nothing to protect you and do not keep track of communications between vendor and buyer although they have all kinds of regulations about contacting the seller and paying and all kinds of other things they have no protection practices which eBay does and they enforce them. Vendors have been suspended from eBay for not following safe and legal and ethical practices and I have never heard of this happening on aquabid. eBay and PayPal are owned by GE and they keep a strict control on them. I do not see the same type of thing going on with aquabid. When I had trouble with a vendor there, the administrator had gone on vacation and did not accept any e-mails for 3 weeks and that person made my life one living misery and I never did get the transaction completed. I was never so glad to be rid of anyone.
I don't think you should have to lose your money but I am not betting that his man will be honest enough to use PayPal to allow you to get it back. Please do not fall for any more of his lies and if it were me, I would block his e-mail address from being able to contact you directly. MAKE him come through PayPal if he wants to contact you and get his feedback changed. BUT I NEVER WOULD CHANGE IT.

Well, lately every time the seller responds through direct contact, i copy his email onto aquabid, or paypal, and then respond. The paypal associate said his account was frozen. So, either the paypal associate misspoke, which is entirely possible..or he has had more than one claim filed against him recently. I am thinking the latter simply because he had negative feedback that mysteriously disappeared and the closed auction ended at 250 dollars.

Apparently, and unfortunately, there are multiple people involved in this scam. The transhipper emailed me to notify me that i was still on the list to ship. I told her that i shouldnt be, and that i filed a claim and won. She then told me she has a claim pending against him as well as another person. Then she showed me some of the emails shes getting, and the lies the seller has told. Hopefully this man will be shut down for good.

I M Part of the Club 2 Riley - LOL
so u r not the only 1 now riley. i m getting the run-around from the_sea99 also. pretty similar story to yours, so here is what happened:
-placed a bid 4 a pair of his copper giant std hmpk on june 30
-contacted and payed him through paypal that evening - and he tried selling me a bunch of other fish for as-is bid price w/o shipping. i was suspicious but figure it was normal since it would be cheaper to get a couple more. he wanted to sell me his most expensive pair and i told him i wasn't looking for the type he was offering, and i couldn't afford it. so he reduced the price by a smidgen and i told him that i could afford one of his other giant pairs. he agreed on that, and i placed a bid on a pair of giant green mustard hmpk. payed him through paypal asap.
-he received payments and no word from him. emailed him after july 4th about shipping details and transhipper information and his only response was july 23rd. i responded by asking for details once shipment was en route but no response.
-i paitiently waited till july 23rd and still no response so i emailed on july 24 for shipping information....no response.
-it is now july 25th and i decide to email all the transhippers he has listed on his aquabid notes. they 2 of the 3 respond promptly with no information regarding my shipment and that they had received a shipment from him earlier in the month july 12 or 14. y wasn't my shipment in with the rest?
-so i decide to email him again to hint at a refund, but still no response.
-i decided to do a google search on the_sea99 and found your post. shoulda' done this earlier but he had so many positive feedbacks on aquabid and some of the forums that i didn't want to bother. i also liked the fish he had.
-it's been about 26-27 days now and i went ahead and filed a claim against him on paypal b 4 anything expired.
-i've been holding off on posting any neg marks, but will do so if i don't here from him.
-the total on my transaction is $165.00 that i've been saving up. this is also my 1st time ever making a transaction on aquabid. it's been very discouraging to say the least. i will have to recover b 4 making another transaction.
any suggestions would help. i m playing the waiting game now, and still no word from him.
hope people see this and think twice before joining our club....lol tears.

once when my son got caught up with a scammer on ebay, I did a little looking at the feedbacks for various sellers. I noticed that a LOT of the overseas sellers (especially in Asia) had fantastic feedback scores BUT if you actually looked at the feedbacks, they would be all posted within minutes of each other on one day and quite often by the same 2 or 3 users. This, of course, gives them incredible positive feedback percentages but they aren't REAL. I found (and reported) a BUNCH of these guys to ebay. Their auctions disappeared within a day. But, you KNOW they're right back up and running with a new user name right away. Very frustrating. Since then, whenever dealing with any auction site, I make sure to not only check out the feedback percentages but also look for unusual or suspicious feedback activity.
Don't know if the same strategy could be used by the sellers on aquabid to pump up their feedback scores or not but it's something to think about.

I am so sorry to hear about your trouble, guys. It would be much easier if you paid through Pay Pal with your credit cards. In this case you could do charge back. Let's hope that Pay Pal will be able to get your refunds sooner or later (sooner is better) and let's wish the con artist seller chokes on your money.

pkyak.. follow chicadees and many others advice, and stop contacting him directly. File a claim DO NOT WAIT AS LONG AS I DID. You got the same story right? Just file the claim, and leave negative feedback now. Please do it for all of us and dont change it. He wont refund your money if you change it. I cant change mine back to negative..so its stuck at neutral..PLEASE for everyones sake..leave negative feedback on aquabid.

You are right on the money! This seller has loads of positive feedback, because they are from the same people, for multiple purchases. Then he bribes people out of negative feedback knowing it cant be changed back to negative. The sad part is, aquabid has no customer protection at all. They have no phone number, and emails go directly to the seller with an aquabid title. No one reads them. I emailed the website owner, and he never responded. I wont be using them ever again.
