I guess I am going back to school??!!
After already having 2 degrees, one in healthcare management, the other advanced resp therapist practioner. My husband and I have decided I am going to go back to get a nursing degree... woohoo! Since I have the least in medical science classes to take between the two of us I get the pleasure of persueing the bachlors in nursing first.
What that means for us is about 10$ more on the hour for me and more job security. At least I had a 3.8gpa all through college, and a 27 on my act when I took it like 14 years ago ha ha... Im sure they will also look at my last year and a half of resp school and my straight A average (that will keep me off the waiting list).
Pretty much from what we read I can get my Bachlors in nursing in 2 years. The healthcare management degree... I hope will get me what I want, a management position.
Its going to work out perfectly, I am going this August to turn in all my paperwork to start for next fall (fall 2009) that way if theres some straggller class I need to pick up I can before I get my nursing started, plus I have time to get my youngest into preschool.
I can't belive I am going back, I thought I was done w/ school! At least I have been keeping up w/ all the math, etc! I still go back and redo my practice board exams from time to time just to keep me on my toes (my resp is mostly physics/algebra) Not to mention I am pushing my 6 year old, we finished up w/ negitive integers this past week, next week its times tables.
Then when I am done w/ all this... my husband w/ the bachlors in enviromental science is thinking of persueing either that to finish up to get his masters or go back and persue a physicans assistant degree.....
we just know w/ both of us in our early 30s we have to do something to make more money... I make around 18.50 an hour (base) he makes around 14.80 (base).... we just can't cut it w/ that! Especially w/ wanting a new house and toys like boats, 4 wheelers... fish tanks... etc
I am just so nervous about starting back into school, I know it won't be that bad, I did physican rounds w/ the residents for 3 and a half years at UT when I worked there so I have caught on to a lot of other medicine besides just respiratory. Not to mention all the stuff I helped my husband through paramedic school study, staying up to 3am quizing him on drugs. At least I will have 2 professions under my belt that will be in high demand, not to mention cross-trained!

Good luck!
Ya'll have your act together better than a lot of parents now-a-days, and for that I commend you. You'll do superbly at the college work, as you stated, you're both (your hubby and yourself) very intelligent people. Providing a better life for your kids and a more fun life for your family is definately a good goal to have.

Thanks, I just don't want to live in a doublewide for the rest of my life w/ my 2 boys. It was a "starter home" and that will be what it is! One way or another. Just like I was telling my mil there is so much I want to do w/ the kids, like taking them to the Caymen Islands, or just to the Nick JR hotel... My dad made a ton of money as a coal miner I never wanted for anything let a lone needed he did so much w/ me and spoiled me w/ trips to the beach, and I want to do the same to my children. I def do not want to live paycheck to paycheck. Besides I like the idea of having a basement that I will turn into one heck of a fishroom... he he he (mts going full speed). My husband has his little wants too...
I just hope they don't make me take a spelling test lol... I am one of those math/science people that cannot spell.... my aunt was the same way we are so much alike its not even funny... now my mother shes the english whiz

CONGRATS!!!!
CONGRATS!!!!
I'm going back to school in August. I never went to college, but now with 2 of my 3 boys graduated and my youngest only has about a year and a half left in high school, I decided its time for me to finally go.
I've been out of school for 20 years. Twenty! I feel abit ridiculous as a 38 year old freshman.
YOU CAN DO IT!!!!
(On my entrance exam I scored a 96 in language skills and a 20 in math. It is NOT my strong point either, but they still let me in. LOL!)

Good luck.
I understand not wanting to live in a double-wide your whole life, but gosh, school is fun (at least it is for me)

Congrats and good luck to you. One thing to look into - your husband (he is a paramedic if I remember correctly) can do a paramedic to RN bridge program online. He would have to go to the "campus" to test out, but the online course can be completed at home (or work) pretty quickly. One of my best friends did the course and she is making 2-3 times the money as an RN as she was as a medic. If you go to a "brick and mortar" school, and he does the online thing at the same time, you will both be done at roughly the same time and double to triple your income. Bye-bye double wide, hello MTS!

Thanks... There is a bridge program in Chatt. which is a little bit of a drive for him but he has thought of doing it (would be cheaper than paying for online classes and his workplace would pay the tuition.
As for the doublewide, I have still managed to have enough room for 7 tanks... our living room is very large (well it is holding a 55, 58, and 36g tank w/o looking crowded.... Compared to most "double wides" our home is the more expensive (stupid investment... very! we paid way too much, well still paying on it) the walls are made out of sheet rock, not that fake paper stuff mobile homes are made out of, the trim is real wood, etc.... and my floors can hold fish tanks... lol But, it is a doublewide... I want a 2 story "cabin" rustic style home w/ a huge den, and a basment turned "fishroom"... thats our plans anyways.
