Quit my job
Well after 4 yrs of being a nanny for 2 families I put in my 2 weeks notice 2 wednesdays ago. I couldn't take working for one of the parents anymore. I love their children dearly, but I have a real hard time working for someone that doesn't respect me and who talks behind my back and tells lies. This wednesday will be my last day with one of the families and I will work for the other for 1 more week.
For those of you who may remember the family or family member who is causing me to quit was actually the owner of the dog that had died by choking itself to death and I found her. That happened I don't think quite a yr ago.Almost a yr ago. She has no respect for herself or anyone for that matter.
Wednesday is going to be a very hard day for me and even though I'm going to try hard not to I know I'm going to cry. I don't even know if the kids know yet that I am leaving them for good. Those kids mean everything to me and its just going to be a very sad day.
I don't even have a job lined up yet. I notmally wouldn't quit before finding another job, but my quitting wasn't planned. It was a spur of the moment type situation, so I've been scrambling trying to find another job some where.
I just thought I'd let everyone in on the news.I haven't been on fishlore for a few weeks now because I've been too busy looking for another job. I do have an interview tomorrow after work, so I hope it goes well and the pay will at least be half way decent cuz I already know I'm going to have to take a pay cut which is going to be hard. I'll let everyone know how it goes . Natalie

Congratulations. Change is always really difficult (for me, at least), but I think that, for your own sake, you should get away from that woman (I think I expressed a similar sentiment last year after the dog incident).
Good luck with the interview.

Best of luck to you!
I have a hard time with change also, I think it's fear of the unknown and unfamiliar.

I'm with sirdarksol, change is always really hard. I always joke about how much I love the status quo, why does everyone mess with my beloved status quo?!
Sounds like you need a change though, there's nothing worse than working for someone who doesn't appreciate or respect you.
but why you have to leave both families?

Congrats on the change! If you still want to be a nanny, I've had good luck with the Sittercity.com website. (I was a nanny and am going back to it in august.)
Good luck with the interview!

Good Luck Natalie!!! I think that it is great that you are leaving if you are in a position where you do not feel respected and feel taken advantage of. No amount of money is worth it if you are unhappy. I wish you the best of luck. Don't lose hope and don't give up. You will find a job that is fun, satisfying, and fufilling- one that you definetly deserve

The other family can't afford to pay me what I get paid weekly. They aplit my pay half and half. If they were able to afford it I would stay with them cuz they are a wonderful family. Natalie

The interview went good, but she couldn't offer me a position cuz of the pay. She did, however, set me up with a different place that would pay more and I'm supposed to meet with them either tomorrow or Friday.
I really did not want to get up today and go in because I know I have to say good bye to the kids and I don't want to do that. It's just going to be a very difficult day for me.
Anyway, thank you again for everyones support. Natalie

Hi Natalie. Sorry to hear of your trouble. Sometimes these things happen for a reason, and the others are right, nothing is worse than getting up and going to work, knowing you have to deal with all the bs that sometimes goes along with it.
Keep your chin up, friend. Something great will come along and things will work out as they are meant to be. Best of luck. We miss you on the forum!!
Keep us posted, I will be thinking about you.!
Hugs

Thanks Val. It was very hard leaving them today. believe it or not the mother I was having problems with gave me a parting gift and we hugged and we both balled our eyes out. She said " you have been so awsome the past 4 yrs and thank you so much for taking such great care of them." I was really quite shocked that she cried and said that, so I guess in her own twisted way she did appreciate what I did for them and for so long. I will still be a part of their lives and instend to see them still.
When I told Foster this afternoon that I wasn't coming back tomorrow to watch them he asked me why. I said " well it's time for me to move and find a different job. You and Olivia will be going to a new preschool tomorrow and you will have lots of fun there. " He said " well can I come with you?" It nearly broke my heart when he said that. I said" no baby you can't come with me. You have to be a big boy and go to school with Livy"
I cried the whole way home from work. I know I will still be a part of their lives, but its still hard leaving them since I practically helped raise them since they were babies.
Its all for the best though for everybody all around. Natalie

I have another interview this morning.I just got the call. My interview is at 10 am. It's called the beatitudes Age Link. It's affiliated with a nursing Facility Home called the Beatitudes.I was told by a director of a diffrerent day care that is good friends with the assisstant director of the beatitudes that they pay a little better then what she'd beable to pay me. So she faxed my resume to them and I am meeting with them. Hopefully something good will come out of this. Wish me luck. Natalie
