Frustrated with our cichlids

BIG VENTING AHEAD:
I am so disappointed with my cichlids the past while.
My angelfish aren't getting along with the keyholes. I still have my psycho angelfish female (no one comes for her when they say they want her ).
She has kicked my Ziggy's butt for the first time the night before last. As soon as I saw Ziggy I threw Angel in a 5g for a day b/c I was so upset to what she did to poor Ziggy> Pix attached My EVIL side wanted to feed her to the cats or flush her. lol
Smokey has beaten up my male keyhole. Which is probably why he keeps hiding and acting sick. So my angelfish pair are going. I have tried for about a year & half to have happy angelfish. It's not working out for me.
I think for now I'll keep Ziggy with the Keyholes until I can find her a 15g tall for her and our bristlenose pleco breeding pair. Plus get a 20g for the keyhole pair if they don't die on me before I can.
My male keyhole has injures around his belly and pooper. I though he was sick, but he isn't. I saw Smokey bite Luis belly and ripped scales. My Smokey is a fish too. I am so sad/mad/disappointed. I love my angels but I have had enough of their aggressive nature. Demonfish is what they should be called.
Do you know how much Melafix we've gone thru b/c of these angels?
My blue haps aren't good breeders. The male has a bad gene of some sort. See post here: Problems with blue hap fry

I am so about cichlids right now.
My betta are my favorite fish now, even tho they die easily. At least you know they appreciate whatever you do for them til their last breath.
Time for me to focus on betta and keyholes. I think I may try the betta breeding thing (with Heather's help). I'd like to at least experience it once.
Anyhow thanks for reading. I guess it's tank change up time again.

I honestly think that a person needs a 50g for any kind of Mixed South American cichlid tank. 33g is too small for both species I was just waiting to see who would be the ones I have to sell or give away. We are getting more tanks eventually. If I wait until then, my fish will have all beaten each other up. I have to choose one or the other. With angels attitude it is a no brainer who has to go.
Cichlids approach with caution. Just b/c the say they a mild aggressive species doesn't mean anything. Aggression is aggression.

Oh yeah the pix of the keyhole and angel male is in mid fight. See the keyhole's body language.

hmmm - Now I am rethinking cichlids...mine are halfway behaving, however, the girl is still stuck hiding at the top of the tank most of the time. BUT one of the males is sort of courting her I think....I don't know. You are so "in the know" about cichlids. and if you are having problems. Jeepers.

Keep us all posted ( no pun) on how things evolve.

Im sorry for your frustation allie..I know how much you love all your fish...its almost like when our kids drive us to this point, we go into our rooms for a time out!! you really cant do that with fish even if you love them just as much...I guess ive been very fortunate to not have any agression with my fish, other than my convicts (whom have their own tank now) big hugs, deep breath, and go for it with the betta's ...you know you have the knowledge and you will always wonder "what if" if you dont try..goodluck!

you aren't kidding!!!

you know we were looking at some diff cichlids (other than Malawi) and I actually started to get a bunch of Blue Rams today, and other suitible SA fish... I emptied out my 36g tank (traded in for credit the peacocks in that tank, all I would have had to do is work that ph down. I am still thinking about it.

Can't you just spank (and or ground them) and send them to their rooms?

In all seriousness, I'm sorry you are having troubles with them.

Hi Allie
I know just what you mean by those demon fish! lol... I hate that I have to keep my Angels seperated. And one of them is really separated. By a divider in the 29g tank! Jesshh... Id love to have them both in the 55, but they are brats!

Good luck with yours!
