What, if anything is wrong with my pink gouramis?
My pink gouramis have white patches on their faces. I'm not sure if that is normal or not. I just noticed them a few days ago. Can anybody help me or atleast put my mind at ease. I got the tank about 2 weeks ago, fish and all. I don't know anything about pink gouramis, other then what I read on a few different web pages. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Liz
P.S
I have photo's, but i'm not sure how to attach them.

Hi there Liz! It sounds like your little fishies have a fungal infection. It isn't anything too awful but should be dealt with right away; my new betta had white cottony patches on his forehead and lips when I got him a couple of weeks ago. I added aquarium salt (about a level tablespoon for my 6 gallon tank, very inexpensive) and a few drops of a remedy called "Betta Fix" (I don't know if the latter is relevant here) and he is right as rain.
Hope this helps, & good luck.

One of my fish have had this before, and I think i used melafix... i'm not quite sure. I'll check when it's later in the day...
Also, I think they may be Kissing Gouramis, so you might find more stuff now...

Thanks all, I appreciate the reply's. It almost looks like their scales turned white, not like there is something growing on them. Could this still be a fungus? and also, could anybody tell me how to attach picture?
Thanks again.

Here is one of my gouramis, the smaller gourami doesn't have as much as the bigger one. Anybody know what it is? Thanks.

This doesn't look like what my betta had. I am no fish expert... still, aquarium salt can't hurt them, it is worth a try?

Thanks, I will try it. It just worries me a bit. You would think if they were like that when i got them I would of noticed. Poor babies, I feel bad not knowing how to help them. Thank you for your input.

So this could be bad, that's not good. The fungus is suppose to look like cotton on them right? I don't think they look like they have cotton on them.
I don't know what I should do now, nobody seems to know what it is.
Do you think I should do the salt too? If it won't hurt anything, I could try right?

Your last post got me thinking and it actually could be a fungus, I believe a less common type of fungus is smooth. You could try Rid-Fungus - it's herbal and organic so it's not stressful or harsh to the fish.
I wouldn't use aquarium salt, it would dehydrate and/or damage the slime coating.

That's good to know, I don't want to dehydrate them. Thanks i will look into getting some rid-fungus. I hope it works.
They don't seem to be acting any different then they were before this showed up. Thanks for your help.

As long as they're acting the same and eating ok, then hopefully it's either something easily cleared up or nothing to worry about.
