Ughh School

OK I have a quick story:

At science class today, my teacher had a large stack of animal pelts on her desk. It really bothered my because I am a "hippie" (according to my school). Well it turns out we were going to exam them. I started hyperventilating and my teacher said that we could be excused if we were uncomfortable. I decided I will stay, and leave if it bothers me more. Well, she starts pulling out small animals (beavers, possums, skunks, etc.) and I was starting to get really worried and depressed. Well, she thens pulls out a coyote pelt and told us it was "OK to kill coyotes for sport because they are a nuisance" and I almost thew up. Well it turns out all of these animals were killed for sport (which I didn't know) and I began getting REALLY worried. Then she pulls out something I will never forget in my entire life. She has a wolf pelt in her hand (my favorite animal!!!). Well at this point I grabbed my books, ran out of the room, and went to the nurse until the end of class.

Thanks for reading and give me your feedback please.

Today in biology, we were supposed to cut up a fetal pig. I cant every do stuff like that, I walk into the room, and can just tell that we are going to do something nasty, so I use the little plastic models instead, in a totally different room. Its crazy. They wonder why teenagers are desinsitized, maybe because they make us do nasty stuff.

I don't really mind the whole dissection. We did worms and frogs in Biology. Pelts or stuffed animals(not like plush toys but literal stuffed animals) don't bother me either. Personally I think hunting and fishing are fun. Not so much shooting the animal or hooking the fish but the thrill of the hunt per se. Just what I think.

I hunt, always have and always will. I have only shot 1 thing in my life that was living (no matter how much people rag on me, I'm not eating pop cans and paper ) and I didn't eat. I have grown up being taught that if you kill it, you eat it. I have shot a hooded merganser, which everyone said would taste like dirt, but I knew that since I shot it, I had to eat it. I don't believe in shooting for sport, or "killing for the sake of killing". Just my point of view...my 2 cents...

I would have left too. But back when I was in school we only had to dissect frogs. Which I didn't do.
It's June only a few weeks left of school til' summer.

I'm a more than a little squeamish about those kind of things too. The other pelts wouldn't have bothered me too much but I probably would have done the same thing when she pulled out the wolf pelt.

I thought you couldn't hunt/kill wolves?

I'm ok with hunting things for meat. Wild game is pretty tasty. I'm friends with alot of folks who hunt, they are all good people, good sportsmen. I don't get killing things for sport at all,not at all.

I always find myself a little hypocritical,

I have no problems eating meat fish or most other animals but wont go shooting, I will go fishing but will put them back which seems a little like hirting fish for my pleasure (have not gone fishing for a long time because of this but I know I will probably do it again)

Equally I have no problems going into a butchers and buying steaks, pork, duck, chicken but find myself giving out to people who go shooting.

I feel it shows us people who live in cities or not on the land how out of touch we are with what really happens. Somebody kills the animals we eat just because we dont see it does not mean it does not happen.

I am not mouralising but making a point about our society, I am also gulity of this, maybe dissections are unnecessary death on animals or maybe it is an education about what happens all animals before they arrive on our shop shelves.

I am a confirmed meat and fish eater but with little pangs of gulit !! My Two Cents Worth !!

Oh yeah thats a rule with us to. If you shoot it then you have to help clean it and eat it.

I think it's ok for people for hunting during legal hunting seasons. I'm not really a hunter-gatherer though, so you'll find me hunting at the store.
