If any of the fish experts could make a list of meds that are beneficial to our tanks....just a go by list for ppl that ask and for us newbies that are still learning..sorta like a cheat sheet!! I know it mite be time consuming, but also will benefit and help alot ...if theres already one made, could I get the link?? id like to print one out ....ty!

What a good Idea! I have no idea how to go about making such a list, as I have had extreme luck in the health factor of fish keeping, but having a cheat sheet of what med for which problem, and what med works best, how to use best ect...

Good idea! It is a touchy thing though, as recommendations are just that, and if fish don't respond to one thing, they often need another.

It helps to know that bacteria is either gram negative, or gram positive. So if you read on a drug and it treats both, your chances of hitting right the first time are best. However, some medications are harder on the fish, some have agents which help keep it in contact with the fish so it does it's job, and some are systemic, and enter the fish without it having to eat it.

I am sure most here feel more comfortable sending people to the fishlore fish diseases pages already posted. They don't tell what medicine to use, but do describe different problems, and what causes it, sometimes it will even say what general drug you can try, but from there you have to figure it out as across the world there are different brand names available.

TY carol that list is a start!! I appreciate it very much!!!!! im going to print it...and I agree susitna...I was just meaning in general...like what prime is for or garlic guard or bio spira...that type of thing...ty for the help

This is a good idea, but I want to point out that there is no such thing as a true fish expert (this is one of the main ideas behind the forum: Mike was tired of self-proclaimed "experts" talking down to the members of other forums).

Like I said, though, it's a good idea to have a list here of some basics that people should have on hand or know about in case the need arises.

True, that list is a good starting point but I like to stock a variety of meds and supplements as well.

I Just wanted something from the experts here ...not saying anyones better than any other place...but having a base/in general kinda list would help alot and then build from that list onto other meds for each situation..ive started one with the basic info ive learned here but sometimes other things come up for ppl and I just thought it would be cool to have the list to refer ppl too
