Just when I thought I had heard it all...

Ok, so now I have a bad case of MTS. Trying to kill some time, I search online for glass aquariums . When reading one site, the manufacturer is laying out new beginner tips to owning an Aquarium. While discussing water changes, he admits that sometimes he goes 6 months w/out water changes and how surprised he is that the fish are still doing fine.

Jeez, that makes me mad/sad!

I know of many people who only change the water every few months...My sister who I love and adore being one of them....I just look at my water changes as flushing the toilet.....I feel so much better after I do a change and the fish do too....

I'm just starting to extend my water changing periods to bimonthly now from weekly. I've got lots of plants, a small bioload, I feed sparingly, and use Purigen. And my organic waste readings stay very low - it all depends on how you are running that tank!

That works great w/ the lower bioload tanks. My monsters have to have a bunch of water changes. SO my sced has to stay consistant. Water change wed, and vaccum sat... then if anything looks off I still throw in another water change... of coarse the fry tank is getting some extra changes...
I also test my water every even day...
But thats w/ a well stocked african cichlid tank... or two, or more...

6 months! That's 26 water changes here.. I'd like to know what manufacturer is that stupid, so I can never buy one of their tanks.
