Just a curiosity question
I know alot of us boycott and dont buy things from LFS that sell died or tattoed fish, so im wondering for a company to sell or promote things like this, http://www.bigalsonline.com/BigAlsUS...bettahexsingle , is it any different?

I think she means the companys who sells or promote the small tanks.
I rarely buy anything on-line (I am queen of returns) so it is not cost effective for me.
Although I agree with the concept, if I were to boycott stores that sell them, I wouldn't have anywhere to shop.

I wouldn't have anywhere to go. Even Drs Foster and Smith sell some pretty tiny tanks and call them "betta friendly."
I get your point, though. I'm somewhere between pragmatic and idealist, and I do the best that I can. I suppose we could start writing letters (for all the good the letters about bettas did).

Its awlful that the stores do sell those. However, though I haven't walked into a store that didn't have some type of "torture" device for bettas.
I hate them, and I hope that one day the fishstores get it in their heads that bettas cannot thrive in those little things. its just cruel!

I've seen something smaller. I've actually seen a little 2 pint acrylic cup that could be divided in two in order to keep two bettas at the same time.

The sad thing, I bought my mother a betta book for her breeding to help her a long. However I rulled it all bad advice after reading "setting up a tank" it said the little tanks were just fine for a betta.

I have a book on bettas that says the same thing. The awful thing is: people usually believe what they read (not always what they are told, but for some reason if it is on paper, people view it as more official information). My sister has her betta in this 1/4 gallon ball that hangs from a stand. Last time I went to her house the water was halfway full and her poor betta just had room to sit in one spot. It was the same as being in one of the tiny plastic cups

Most people seem to believe that you need to tell the truth in order to get a book published.
There are no requirements to getting a book published. You can self publish, for free, and if your book happens to sell, a publisher will likely pick it up.

I already don't shop at Big Al's since they carry the tortured fish and refuse to stop selling them.
I hate those little prisons for Bettas, but haven't found any place not selling them.
