Well the only LFS in town is kind of a pet store at the same time - they sell some dogs, birds, reptiles, etc...but mainly a fish store. They do a really good job and stuff, I've always liked it. This same guy is always there, a younger guy - probably early 20s - and he's always real friendly to me.
Yesterday I went looking for some kuhli loaches, alas they had none...but he said he'd order some for me next week. Then he was like "Oh hey, do you want a job?"
Apparently they're short-staffed really bad in the freshwater department, and he's a saltwater person anyway so he said it'd be great if I'd help work in the aquarium area and deal with the freshwater people.
I guess I should point out at this point that I'm a high school student :P 16 to be exact, so it's always funny to watch this guy hit on me when I know he's got to be at the very least out of college. He's always *very* friendly :P
The dialogue went something like...
Me: Well, I would but I don't have a license at the moment, or a car to get here
Him: No car? Do you live downtown?
Me: ...no?
Him: How do you get to your classes?
He apparently thought I went to the local university around here. When I said I was 16 he got that "Oh crap" look on his face :P
Me: I was thinking of getting a summer job at one of the pet stores though...either here or Petsmart or something
Him: Don't work at Petsmart...come work here!
So what do you think? Should I work on the aquarium section over the summer? - I can work weekends until I get my license at the end of June and drive my dad's old car since he's getting a new one...
I only fret because I hear that some people start to hate fishkeeping once they deal with it all day...grant it, it'll only be a part-time job and their hours are very manageable...10am-8pm every day except Sunday, which is -6pm. Can't decide :P I wanted a job over the summer anyway so this would save me the hassle. I figure I'll talk to him more next week when I go to pick up the kuhlis.
I hope employees get discounts on fish
