Stock Market

Does anyone follow the stock market? Gosh, I almost hate turning CNBC on anymore. When are things ever gonna turn around and give us some good news??

They won't turn around until we go through a depression. At the rate the country(U.S.) is going, it's inevitable. Crazy rate of inflation with pay not catching up with it. Bunch of reasons really, but 'big oil' has everything to do with it. Milk is $5.35 a gallon here. Up from $3 something a year or so ago. That's alot when you buy several gallons a week. Tack on that inflation on to the various other food products that are bought, and you're looking at 40-50$ more per grocery check then before. We used to pay about $80 a week for groceries. Now we pay about $175 a week. It's hard on a 1 income salary and 2 kids to do that, not to mention all the other necessities that are being driven up due inflated gas costs. It'll ease up a lot for our family once I finish school and get my BSN, but until then, at least another 3 years, we're pinching pennies where we can but still getting things that manage to keep us happy, since we're stuck at home That means fish tanks and swing sets and soccer balls. Easy to keep a family happy with those 3 things, and you don't have to pay for something new every month.

I agree with you.. Gas is killing people right now. In fact, here, you cant even really fill up with gas.. the pumps kick off at a certain dollar amount.. I dunno if that is to save gas at the station or if thats to keep people from driving off with 200 bucks worth of gas. It sure makes it a pain when traveling.

I dont know where you live.. but milk isnt up to 5 bucks here.. yet! I think the last I bought milk it was still under 4 bucks a gallon.

Im lucky in that i dont have a big family.. and my son works and supports his own gas habit.

We are a one income family and we have still cut back even though we are not feeling as much of a pinch as a larger family is feeling. We dont eat out near as much as we use to.. we dont travel as much.. I dont jockey around town for no reason like I use to..

I really am considering putting in a bigger garden and maybe trying to at least supply myself wth fresh veggies this year rather then paing the high prices for them at the store or farmers market.

I hope it turns around soon... I really miss eating out LOL

Yea, thanks to greed & stupidity the US economy is heading towards a depression. Just 6 years ago, I was getting gas for $1 and milk for $1.75.
