Remember the old "ditty" Spring has sprung, the grass is rissed, wonder where the money is! That is how I am feeling today...with gas reaching toward $4/gallon, and grocery prices going out the roof....

Glad you are seeing blooms though, it is snow/raining here today....BAH HUMBUG!

I have been in a perpetual bad mood since three years ago when I closed down my greenhouse because of fuel prices...Usually at this time of year I would be out in the greenhouse planting plants and planning for the lovely hanging baskets...smelling the earth, and feeling the sun rays as they stream through the plastic, listening to the radio, and ............Ah heck......

Our gas prices are not as bad. I just got back from a walk in the park and drove by a BP..Gas was 3.17 for reg gas. I have noticed grocery items are going up in price.. I dont really have the space for much of a garden so ive never really tryed to grow my own veggies.. but who knows.. maybe this year Ill just find a space and put in a small one and see how I do.

spring is here too! blossom, hay fever, long green grass, warm weather....i love it!
our fuel is £1.10 a litre. dont know how that compares with the US, but its a lot! 10 years ago it was 49p a litre. what a difference! thats whats driven up the cost of everything else . i've considered growing some of my own veggies. thought it be healthier (organic and fresh), cheaper and educational for the kids. however, the corner of my garden i have spare for such a thing is concrete!! need to remove the concrete first and put soil there! nothing's ever easy is it?! :-/

You could always do a raised box garden on top of the concrete. It'd probably be a lot easier!

My daughter (shes 3) and I have a big garden planned for this spring/summer. That is, if it ever gets here! The only signs of spring here so far are the poor little robins sitting out in the snow.

Spring my favorite time of year in Southern Arizona....Won't be long until the temps reach 120 degrees and we have to worry about power outages with a sump

So true! Up here often people will use discarded tires as planters. One method of raising the soil temperature.

The most common is to plant potatoes. Stack three tires. Plant your potato 6" down. Let the plant grow, when it is tall enough add another tire, and fill with soil....use at least 6 tires total, the last time fill with straw. As the plant grows it puts potatoes on the entire stalk all summer, and one plant can harvest 20-30 + lbs of potatoes! Use tires also for planting tomatoes, cucumbers and squash. They all love warmer roots, and the "raised bed"...

I just saw something very interesting on tv. It was some ad on how to grow your tomatoes, squash and cucumbers upside down. I just dont know how this could work.. Im curious enough i just might try it LOL. My neighbors will think ive lost what few brain cells I have when they see this.. If it works.. it really could solve the "no room" issue..

also do the tire beds for sweet potatos then you get a ton and sweet potato pie is inevitable.

Spring is definetly here in Southern CA! On Easter it was so hot I could have sworn it was July. I envy all of your abilities as far as gardening goes. I have tried to keep plants several times, and the only ones still alive are my cactus. I just forget to water them I guess when you have a lot of fish tanks though, that's enough maintinance as it is!!!!!!!

I sure hope spring is here in Syracuse! It was finally 64 and raining today, but it could always go back down to the 20s at any given time! I hate this city. I'm so ready to throw on my Doc Marten sandals!
