Back in June I bought some guppies, but unfortunately they all died 1 by 1 until I only had three left - Dave, Jet and Spot.
The 3 were getting on well together and were quite healthy except that they had finrot from the lfs so i was treating them. On the first of July though I was going on holiday to portugal for 2 weeks, so I couldn't treat them. I did 1 big water change before leaving and then had to wish for the best. I had my mums friend come over a few times while i was away to feed them, but she wasn' very confident doing anything else so she just fed them. But the day before I was supposed to go Dave died. So i was left with just Jet and Spot.
When I got back I found a message from the friend saying she couldn't see one of the fish - Jet was no-where to be found. I'd looked everywhere. Spot was acting very strangely too just lying underneath the filter. His finrot had got worse again so I started treating him again. His fins started healing but there was no change in him. He just stayd in that one spot, no eating or moving. I got worried thinking if he didn't eat he'd die soon too, sos i did what i had to do to help him. I held a few flakes between my fingers and put them under the water right in front of him and kept hold of them. He was obviously hungary b/c he ate them right from my fingers! During the next week then, he gained more confidence and would swim to the surface to eat, but he's only eat if i was holding the flakes, but he'd always go back to his spot under the filter after eating.
A few days later i'd find him already swimming at the surface waiting to be fed and by this point he'd even let me slightly stroke him slightly. He'd obviously come to trust me. He still wouldn't swim about much, but at least i knew he was eating now and his fins were so much better too.
Then on monday, it was time to move the danios and the neon from the 15gall to the 7.5gall tank with Spot. I was worried maybe Spot would maybe go downhill again, but he stayed the same. The danios and the neon settled in and would eat by themselves if i just put some flakes in but spot would still be handfed. I know he was watching the danios curiously too. This morning tho, I got the biggest suprise to find Spot swimming around with the danios. All 3 just swimming together! Then i went to feed them and he ate by himself as well! I just felt so proud of him that he's come so far!
I just thought I'd let everyone know how he's doing as I haven't mentioned him much lately.
