Marmite is bitter and salty vegetarian breakfast spread that people either love or hate. It's sold in the UK. Vegemite is close, and is sold in Australia. They did this really funny advertising campaign based along the lines of: Marmite, I hate; or Marmite, my mate. The t-shirts were a huuuge success. Our whole household had them when I was a student! This product is a huuuge landmark in British society, and everyone knows about it here, whether they like it or not.

sorry to intrude on the banter....but i have to say i am def a HATER of marmite. it is vile! the smell is enough to put me off my food!! itrs def a love or hate thing!!! should do a poll on it....
