I've been lokking for a specially nice name for my betta,and wondered what the pple here name their fish, betta and other...

Bonochick

I have 4 rosy barbs named Conor, Elliott, Steve, and Skippy.* Conor and Elliott are the names of musicians I like, and Steve and Skippy just popped into my mind while I was watching them.* I have five tetras named Oliver, Alex, Jack, Meg, and Napoleon.* Oliver and Alex just came to mind while watching them, Jack and Meg are named for musicians, and Napoleon was inspired by watching Napoleon Dynamite too many times.* My two angels are Jasper and Jerry.* Jasper just came to mind while I was watching him, and Jerry is in tribute to Fitzgerald, an angel of mine that had passed.* I also like Seinfeld, which is why my pleco is named Kramer.* Although I've named fish after people, I still will only give them such name if I feel like it suits them.

i have Muk(pleco), kernel kob( yellow/orange betta), spot( red phantom) casper( ghost shrimp) nemo( neon tetra), and all the others look the same as each other so i didn't name them

when I had my Golden Gourami she had yellow spots near her anal fin so I named her sunspots cuz we were studying the sun that day at school ( i was 9). When I got my two bamboo shrimp I named them Bow and Arrow. I named my mystery snail Sanchez (just seemed to fit lol). I named my crayfish Ozzy because he is an Australian Specimen. My two frogs, my two danios, my two minnows, and my lonely guppy are still unnamed. I just cant think of good names for them.

I'm gonna skip the breeds and just name the fish. Some of them are courtesy of my 3 year old daughter's made up language that only she understands:

we also have several unnamed because they all look alike.

i think this is one your daughter came up with. ! lol.. please tell that little cutie that we love Booga! we gotta name a fish that one day.

Lol. no, Barry white was my creativity. We just call him Barry. He's a silver Lyretail Molly. I'll tell her that you like Booga, though.

Semantic Drift

My fish are all named after historical figures, or at least people of historical significance. Some include: Margaret Thatcher, Eleanor Roosevelt, J. Edgar Hoover, Alice Paul, Ronald Reagan, and Vladimir Nabokov.

It leads to some humorous dialogue, at least. "Margaret Thatcher is pregnant with J. Edgar Hoover's babies!" "Vladimir Nabokov has been fighting with Alice Paul," and all that.

I'm not sure if that was my wife or daughter. I think that was on in the background at the time we were naming fish or something.

looks like you have some disney backgrounds too.. oh well, i guess none of us are immune to disney names.. our platy girls all have disney names along with 1 of the bettas.

Yeah, we're eccelctic. The spices names are my wife's Glowlight Tetras and she's the one that named them.
