I wouldn't worry about them getting into the ecosystem. As the guy said, they are bred with a horrible weakness. They can't hide. In fact, they draw the attention of predators.
Of course, that doesn't mean that other genetically engineered fish wouldn't be harmful. Just because this one would probably die off doesn't mean we should keep playing around. They look neat (I thought so, at least), but I don't think this is a good idea for pets.
I do, however, appreciate the reason the fish were made. I had read about this awhile ago. They are trying to breed a fish that flouresces in pollution. That way, they can test water more easily. It's not perfect, because fish don't always consider the same things as us to be pollution, but it's still easier than testing for each individual thing.
