hey guys,
world cup cricket has started. have u gys seen the opening ceremony? it was great.
i'm going to cheer for Bangladesh as i'm from Chittagong (a beautiful, peaceful, little town surrounded by mountains and Bay of Bengal), Bangladesh. i know there are English, Canadian, Caribbean, Australian, Asian members in this site...so which team do u think will win the world cup?

Being from Trinidad, I'd love to be able to say my Windies Team under Brian Lara, but it's still pretty much anyone's game right now.. in the warm-up games, Canada and Holland did pretty well against South Africa and Pakistan, so that tells me everybody has a chance.. BTW, the Bangladeshi team will be based here in Trinidad along with India, Sri Lanka and Bermuda, so we should be in for some excellent cricket.. I'll keep my eyes on your team and try to give you some progress reports as the World-Cup progresses.

BTW.. Bangladesh's first game will be against India this Saturday (March17) at our Queen's Park Oval.

yeah, i hope bangladeshis will try their best. hey, West indies won their first match against Pakistan. i really enjoyed the match

I can only imagine the celebrations in Bangladesh with that five wicket thrashing of India on Saturday.. and how about Ireland knocking Pakistan out of the tournament!!.. no wonder Cricket is called 'the game of glorious uncertainties'.

Sadly, I never heard of cricket. Can you watch the games on TV? Also, are there any Korean, Taiwan, or Japanese teams?

@ Neville.. the fallout from India's loss to Bangladesh defies logic.. mass demonstrations, burning effigies of the players, even destroying a new house Mahendra Dhoni was building??!!.. and look at what happened following Pakistan's loss to Ireland, more of the same over there, plus the coach falling down dead( they need to do a postmortem there I'm thinking).. I was extremely competitive when I played team-sports, but thank God I grew up enough to realise a game is just a game, you win some, you lose some.

Anyway, your boys have gained all kinds of new respect in this part of the world.. way to go Bangladesh.

hi, yeah, australia is my favorite team too, but i'm a bangladeshi and ours is a much better team than ireland, we have achieved test status and we've beaten india in this world cup, i hope we will beat bermuda today and will go to the 2nd round. i know we r no match for australia or south africa but i think we r making progress as a new team.

cricket is a game for gentlemen so they say!!! and as the saying goes "always bet on black" the newzealand black caps.. the quiet achievers the dark horse... who by the way just beat aussie in 3 one dayers in new zealand white wash with two games being over 300 runs to win and we chased them down with much vigour and skill i will be watching with joy as we have just caned the likes of england and canada

its time boys to do your thing it will be the cricket world cup then the rugby world cup in september

@ Callum.. the Aussies are a fairly strong team even without Warnie and McGrath on the ball, and the total they posted today won't be easy for my boys to beat tomorrow( rain halted play).. if Lara pulls out some of his previous magic ( the records he set in Antigua), and his boys back him up, we'll give Australia the ultimate thrashing.

@ Dazzler.. on Thursday we'll see how your guys do against mine.. being from the Caribbean, and knowing what my boys' potential, I'm seeing dismal moments for New Zealand.

@ Neville.. we in the Caribbean are nothing short of impressed with Bangladesh's performances so far in the tournament, and would love to see your boys asserting themselves beyond the World-Cup.

@ All of you.. the Windies ruled cricket before, and we're about to do it again, Lara is on the verge of retiring yes, but remember the name 'Keiron Pollard'.. he's twelfth man on the Windies team playing right now, but hits harder and smarter than Lara, and is only 19.. time is on our side.
