I guess I just made my order just on time, before Big Al's updated its website and made everything more expensive. This filter: http://www.bigalsonline.com/BigAlsUS...canisterfilter - I bought it for $89.99 just 2 - 3 weeks ago. Now it is 98.99 ... meaning the whole $10 more. I have a few more things to buy, and when I added them all up on Big Al's, it would all cost me significantly more now to buy them on Big Al's than on Dr. Foster & Smith's. Though I like Big Al's, I am switching to Dr. Foster & Smith.

Just thought that those of you who shop a lot online for aquarium supplies should know about this.

theres a big al's near me, i was in there the other day. awesome store to go to in person. the location i was at is where i saw the sharks. good people too.

i love big al's i could stay all day..not that i would but why cant u order fish on there.and theyd keep it for u..or they should show what fish they have at the store..so u can know if a fish u may be looking for is there

I've never been to Big Al's. I don't think they have a store in NY, just their warehouse. I checked on their website - couldn't find a store in NY (just the place where they ship your online orders from).

Maybe I wasn't 100% right about Big Al's being more expensive now, because some items are still at their old cheap price. However, many items' prices have indeed increased after they've updated their website. But like I said, I still like Big Al's a lot - much cheaper than my local LFS. In fact, I just placed another order today on Big Al's, and an order on Dr. Foster & Smith's as well. I like both websites.

MarineDepot.com is good as well, though more expensive than the above two.
