Re: pleco

My guess is your pleco is probably a common pleco found in most fish stores. If this is the case, then your pleco will get really big really fast, and will outgrow your tank in a few months. I believe mine is a common pleco which I got from WalMart a couple of years ago. He is in a 100 gal. tank:

I don't think he will probably bother your other fish, but his growth and waste production will wreak havoc on your tank. He will get so big he will knock everything over, and uproot plants.

Re: pleco

A full grown Common Pleco needs at LEAST a 55-75 gallon tank with a super good filter. Plecos won't eat fish but if yours is a Common he will outgrow your tank really fast. So you need to either get a much bigger tank or give him to someone with a bigger tank, or else take him back to the store if you have to. There are however many species of plecos which stay much smaller and would be ok in your tank. Would it be possible to post a pic of your pleco so we could help id him? You could also look around on www.planetcatfish.com...they'll have tons of pics of different plecos.
