Time to shock the humans.

Click the image to open in full size.
Above is the 1000 sq foot fishhouse I am in the process of building.
When finished, it will hold about 200 tanks, a 8x10x 3 foot pond, total gallonage about 9,000 gallons.

While I am at it, a little about myself.
I have been keeping fish for 25 years now, having done just about everything but killiefish and marines.
I have a bachelors degree in biology.
I admin, www.plantgeeks.net, and moderate at several sites.
I am president of the Smoky Mountain Aquarium Society and on the board of directors for the Atlanta Area Aquarium Association.
I am also an avid book collector, with over 300 aquarium books, and over 600 aquarium magazines.
I also belong to the Charlotte, NC and Colorado Springs fish clubs.
As well as the American Cichlid Association.

My best to you as always,
dino

Looking good Dino, can't wait until it's done.
Dino are you putting in some kind of water exchange system?
Sounds like your keeping busy

Re: Time to shock the humans.

Yes Butterfly, there wil be a water exchange set up.
I will be running two systems, a hard water system from my tap water and a soft water system for collected rain water.
All new arriving fish will be isolated for 3 months until they enter either system.
Fishhouse has a built in drain in the floor for easy water removal.

Secret number is 1-423-572-... well, you know the rest of my cell number.
Hopefully, by the time the next tour comes thru there will be more to see than just a frame work.

Once I am up and running, visitors wil be welcome.

Re: Time to shock the humans.

I hope to be have fish and plants in by years end.
Cost so far;

Concrete: $2800
Wood: $2000
Clear plastic roof
and fixtures for roof $3000
Temperature control-
er window $250
Heating/air condition-
ing unit $750
Plumbing/sink $100
Insulation $300

Various items already on hand

Exhaust fan $500
Air blower for filters $400

Left to go

Finishing electrical work $1000
Lights $100

Soooooo, $11,200 for just the building.
I have about 1500 gallons of glass tanks in the yard/shed, as well as several thousand gallons worth of cattle watering troughs that will be in the house as well.

Just the building and hardware, I expect about $20,000.
I am thinking to have about that same amount going in stock ( plants/fish) by the end of next year.
