Re: How do you breed guppies

It's preferable to keep Guppys in trios, 1 male and 2 females to keep the male from harrassing one female. This ratio is true for most livebearers.
Provideing some floating plants will make your fish feel secure and give the fry someplace to hide and since microscopic critters grow on plants it will give them a good first food along with crushed flake food.
Provide good water quality, good quality food and a temp of about 75-78F and your guppys will take care of the rest. In about 28 days you should have guppy fry. The female can store sperm from one mating and have four batches of fry with out mating again. Although as long as a male is in the tank there will be more than one mating.
A trio of guppys need at least a 10G tank. Hope that helps

Re: How do you breed guppies

just curious about the floating plant thing...i have fake plants that float...could i just not use a rock to make them stay down and let the plants float...but then also wouldn;t it be annoying for the fish to have the plants flying around everywhere becaus eof the pressure of the filter?

btw: my fish are down below if you need to know what htey are.

Tamara yes certainly you can use artificial floating plants. If the plants are "flying " around then the current would be too strong for guppys.

Thanks!!
it's not that the filters to strong....but the top 2 mm of water is always moving..not alot but it'll definetly make the plants fly around because it;s such a thin plastic or whatever the plants are made out of
